I have used Oracle Solaris for applications, especially to install and run the applications.

I have worked for multiple large enterprise environments and one small environment.

I have touched every Solaris OS from 2.5.1 to Solaris 11.4. In my time, I have maintained Sparc 10 workstations and M8 servers, as well as everything in between.

Businesses I have worked for include Manufacturing (large SAP and Oracle DB shops), Outsourcing, Military, and Logistics companies.

I have extensive knowledge of how the OS performs and its capabilities.  

In my company, Oracle Solaris is linked to our CRM, which serves as a database of information. For security companies, we have monthly subscriptions to check their credit scores and everything, and the tool is also linked with the Home Affairs department for verification since it is a database that pulls up the details of the users or whoever is trying to join the company.

We are running Oracle Solaris on Sparkbox.

Oracle Solaris can run on Spark. You run Oracle Solaris as the operating system, and you can run Oracle Solaris on Intel x86, also. 

We are using it for our core applications.

We are using Oracle Solaris for an external data center. We switched to Oracle Solaris because we outsourced Oracle to a third party and they went from Oracle Linux to Solaris because of license issues with Oracle Linux. We had to then go over as well for some functionality reasons, such as to do hard partitioning. We were able to minimize the number of CPU cores available for Oracle Linux which help save money because we did not have to pay full price.

We do not use Solaris in general terms because we are end-users, we are an application service provider. We have an external party that delivers us an Oracle database and the platform underneath the Oracle database is agnostic to us. We do not care about it as long as we have an Oracle database running. My team, which are technicians, is completely not involved in the Solaris platform. We just have an Oracle database running where a third party takes care of it, and they choose Solaris because of license issues.

Clients mainly use the solution as a database operating system in many environments. Most who are using it are financial institutions, telecoms, or companies in the energy sector. 

The solution can be used to run some applications on your PC. 

The primary use case of this solution is for the installation of the Oracle Database and further monitoring and managing.

I'm a distributor who provides Oracle Solaris virtualization solutions to about 100 customers. I'm with the biggest distributor of Sun Microsystems. 

Oracle Solaris has inspired my professional artificial intelligence system and research activity for a new operating system dedicated and focused on cybersecurity.
