We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It reduced cycles for a lot of quick out-of-the-box functionality. It also allowed us to get away from being stuck in SNMP, VTP V2, based off of agent deployment.""Probe packages and probe deployment.""I can use the Drag and Drop feature to build dashboards within minutes.""Monitors the infrastructure asset and also monitors as an IT service.""MultiWAN and Balance service""It's easy to push out across numerous servers. Very scalable.""Great out-of-the-box capability.""The real value is our being able to pull all the historic data that we need in order to gather every little metric and nuanced piece of information from a given device, a given piece of infrastructure, in order for us to generate alerts."

"It has given us an understanding of each layer from a server application.""The process involving the original setup of the solution is excellent.""It does a good job of collecting the data that's necessary for data centers, and IT's operations.""Stability-wise, I feel it is a good product.""It has been stable since deployment.""It's pretty robust, and it's agentless for the most part. So, you don't need to deploy agents, which makes it a lot easier to stand up.""The biggest advantage of ServiceNow is the value that it brings.""I find that the Discovery and scripting features are the most useful."

Cons
"I'd also like to see more probes. More probes in the sense that we were coming across devices that we're expected to monitor and manage for which, out of the box, there isn't a nice, clean solution. There are probes that are dedicated for certain devices and certain device types, which is great. But then there are times we come across nuanced products that we have to develop our own solution for. There are probes that exist in there that allow us to make a customized solution, but it takes a lot more time.""DX UIM's reporting and customization need to be improved.""We've had issues with pulling reports.""The biggest feature that I've been hoping they would enhance on is inventory management: things like adding/removing nodes.""A useful feature to have would be automatic configuration per standard by new robots that check in for any particular customer.""Currently lacks a mobile application which would be helpful.""I would like to see auditability. We've built our own audit functionality to ensure that every CI has the desired model configuration applied to it. And we run that on a daily basis. If that became part of the product, I think it might be a little bit less intensive in terms of resource, because we're doing it with scripts.""It needs a little bit more functionality in the Admin Console."

More DX Unified Infrastructure Management Cons →

"ServiceNow is very costly.""The solution should improve the classes of discovery assets to disregard more junk data.""It is one of the most costly applications in terms of subscription costs.""They can expand on the plugins for some of the other tools.""In a few instances, ServiceNow has failed to discover some basic things. Some other tools are better at network discovery than ServiceNow. I'm not talking about database servers or any other infrastructure—only networking. Cloud discovery could also be better.""When you switch versions, for example, when you go from Paris to Quebec they will introduce many new things and occasionally things break when they do that.""We would like more flexibility with the licensing. Discovery is bundled with ServiceNow's ITOM license. It was more affordable when it was sold separately, but we bought a package license to get more functionality out of the CMDB. We'd prefer to buy only the pieces we need instead of taking things we don't want or solutions that aren't yet mature enough to use.""On the Software Asset Management part of it, I expect additional reconciliation and Discovery features there."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."

  • "This solution is a paid option within the ServiceNow framework."
  • "It's a bit expensive compared to other products in the market, but it's worth the money you pay because it's far advanced in terms of features, automation, and capabilities compared to other products."
  • "There is a subscription for ServiceNow Discovery. It's expensive, but I think it's one of the best solutions on the market, so it's worth it."
  • "The price could be better. It's a bit on the pricey side."
  • "It is an expensive product with a price that depends on the models that you wish to purchase."
  • "It costs a lot. It is probably close to over a hundred thousand. It's an expensive platform, but you can't compare ServiceNow's Discovery functionality to other discovery tools. It's not an apples-to-apples comparison of ServiceNow to a configuration management tool to an asset management tool because it does those things, but it's not those things."
  • "You need a subscription to ServiceNow Discovery, so you can use its features. You can also use specific plugins with the tool, and some of the plugins are free. I don't have information on how much my company pays for the subscription to ServiceNow Discovery."
  • "The solution is very expensive."
