We performed a comparison between Oracle Application Express (APEX) and ServiceNow based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Rapid Application Development Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Oracle APEX improved our organization by making it possible for us to implement agile project development."
"This is a good application for quickly creating public applications."
"We set up the HTTP server and installed the Apex Xamarin DB using the Mark Hill SQL packages for an older version. That's the extent of our configuration."
"In our experience with Apex, we find that minimizing reliance on HTML and JavaScript is preferable, especially considering our background as seasoned programmers adept in PL/SQL. Incorporating HTML and JavaScript can pose challenges due to potential compatibility issues when updates are made to JavaScript. We also make use of JAPER report integration for generating reports, a practice integral to our reporting procedures."
"The database is super easy to use for creating tables."
"I like the way that it automatically goes into the spreadsheets and the users can deal with it."
"The valuable features are charts, reports, and search engines."
"What I like best about Oracle Application Express (APEX) is that it doesn't require hard coding for reporting and building applications. It's a GUI-based application builder that even end-users with little development and language knowledge can develop applications on Oracle Application Express (APEX). The software is also very user-friendly, which I find valuable."
"The most impactful feature in our day-to-day operations is the ticket status, which provides crucial visibility into the progress of each resource or incident."
"I don't have to look through a whole bunch of other incidents that aren't relevant to me. It's very useful in that sense."
"Makes ticket information easy to access."
"ServiceNow has also enabled our Management Consulting business to provide Digital Transformation services for our clients the world over, as we use the platform as an accelerator for doing IT Target Operating Model transformations."
"Everything about the schema, including the design of ServiceNow, is great."
"A workflow automation platform that's reliable, performs well, and has good reporting and integration."
"It's a very low-code platform, and it's simple. The user experience is also really good."
"We consider the integration capabilities of the solution with other tools to be a valuable feature."
"It would be highly beneficial if APEX were an all-in-one platform capable of handling all aspects of application development."
"Connections to the application pages are not handled well and at times more than one user can be accessing an application with the same ID."
"The product must provide more triggers."
"Occasionally when trying to un a page, I would be faced with an error number; however, not much information would be provided on the error itself outside of the programming language. It would be nice if more information could be provided."
"Oracle is more of a database-oriented solution and is not very flexible in app development."
"The solution’s pricing is high if you use it on the OCA platform. It’s also a little bit costly. However, if we use it on an on-premises Oracle database, the pricing is cheaper."
"Visual Builder and APEX should meld in one product."
"During the upcoming versions, we can modify the current configuration."
"The solution’s user interface could be improved and given a better design."
"The reporting, which also includes dashboards, needs to be improved, and there should also be the ability to turn on and off portions of Project Management. Currently, as soon as you install the new version, you've got to go back there and make all the tweaks. There should be just a configuration file that goes to the new version. The Project Management module does not leverage the knowledge base the way it should, and there is no built-in ability to get to the articles. Resource management should be easier. It would be amazing if they can make resource management a little bit more graphical. There are other solutions that I've seen where resource management was a more visual experience."
"The contract module is quite rudimentary and doesn't support contract line items."
"It's not user-friendly by default, but it can be customized to be customer-friendly."
"The licensing needs to be divided into tiers in order to attract lower-level users."
"We would like to have an Asset Management and/or Project Management feature enabled in this version and in the IT Service Management edition."
"Their GUI could be updated."
"There are a few things that it needs to improve, like automation of most things out-of-the-box. For example, when it comes to cloud management, we are still going with manual intervention. Instead of that, if we had an out-of-the-box feature available, that would be great."
