Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is quite easy to handle.""Its administrative panel is very intuitive and simple. It is simpler than the other solutions that we had. As an administrator, we are always looking for the easiest solution to manage network policies. We are able to filter everything on our network and also use the VPN feature, which is important these days when people are working remotely during COVID.""The base firewall features are quite valuable to us.""Fortinet FortiGate is stable. It's used across all the countries, this is the way most multinationals run their system.""Fortinet FortiGate is a scalable solution.""Fortigate represents a really scalable way of delivering perimeter network security, some level of layer 7 security, WAF, and also a way to create a meshed ADVPN solution.""It works very well. It has a lot of different functionalities. Its cost is also fine for our customers.""The management console is pretty simple, so anyone who understands networking can initially deploy the solution."

"The solution has no additional charges and no restrictions on the number of users.""One of the standout features of SonicWall is its simplicity in creating and managing rules.""SonicWall NSV is easy to use, and you can use it to manage the logs easily.""The security of this system is fantastic, including the IPS and IDS.""We purchased the AGSS Bundle (Advanced Gateway Security Suite) for the security services, such as antivirus, intrusion prevention system, and anti-spyware botnet GUI.""The product helps improve our security.""The customization of firewall rules provides great value to our customers as it allows them to lock things up in the way that they desire. When it is used for internal access, with a VPN in place for remote workers, the firewalling services provided by Azure, such as the default services that can be turned on, are applied. However, the use of a software-based virtual firewall gives us greater flexibility in introducing security controls for customers who are publishing applications that are publicly accessible from the public cloud. This virtual firewall provides an additional layer of security and more extensive security control options to ensure the protection of our customers' valuable information and assets."

"The solution is stable.""The best thing about the product is the very good threat prevention output.""Good site categorization and application controls.""I've found the technical support to be helpful.""It does exactly what it says on the tin. It is good for protecting the business from being compromised. Its port protection is very good.""SonicWall TZ is very user-friendly and has network MAC binding. Additionally, the firewall works well.""The solution boasts good performance and is easy to use.""The scalability of SonicWall TZ is good and easy to add users."

Cons
"Some features of Fortinet FortiGate are actually fee enabled that are inconvenient for deploying in production. Other issues relate to isolation with Cisco products and your server.""One of the features that I would like to have is to do with endpoint production, it should be integrated. For example, the firewall gets notified of any kind of forensic event that needs to be done, such as if there is a ransomware attack and how it originated, all those records have to be available from the firewall, which is not.""Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve the logging and reporting. Additionally, the next-generation application's policies should be improved. When they were released they had bugs.""This product needs to have an analysis feature, rather than having the analysis done through the integration of a different product.""Fortinet FortiGate should improve the VPN tokens.""Fortigate's hardware capacities could be improved.""Fortinet already improved FortiGate, but in the current market, many brands of security devices have improved together. Fortinet still needs to catch up with market standards. Fortinet is lacking in features in comparison to competitors.""They should make the rule sets more understandable for the end user. When you're trying to explain to somebody how a computer network is secured, sometimes it's difficult for an end user or customer to understand. If there was a way to make the terminology more accessible to the end user, the set up could be easier. They should translate the technical jargon to an easily relatable and understandable conversation for the end user, the customer, that would be brilliant. Particularly in an environment where the IT structure is audited regularly, there's always pressure from the auditor to up the standards and up the security and you get your USCERT's that come out and there's a warning about this and the customer will want to lock out so much and when you apply it they run into issue where they can't search the internet or print to their remote office. Of course they can't print to your remote office, they just locked it up. They should make the language more understandable for the customer. If there's a product out there that made the jargon understandable to John Q. Public, I would buy that."

"We face some challenges when we upgrade the solution.""SonicWall NSV's SSL VPN could increase its number of users to 100-plus users.""SonicWall NSV's initial setup is complicated and requires good knowledge.""An area that could be improved is the export and import settings functionality.""It has been brought to our attention by a few customers that they are dissatisfied with the fact that our virtualized service is only offered as a subscription option on the cloud. However, it is worth noting that many other similar services are also offered through a subscription model on the cloud and not through perpetual licensing. It is unclear why these customers would have an issue with this subscription service when so many others are utilizing similar methods.""I would like to see the reporting opened up and have several more opportunities for automatic reports.""There are limitations to bandwidth management."

More SonicWall NSv Cons →

"The log analyzer in SonicWall TZ is something that they need to improve upon.""The small business line has less PPS throughput.""Pricing could be lowered slightly.""The lack of support is having me look into other solutions to replace SonicWALL.""In terms of what needs to be improved, I would say better load balancing and data filtering.""I can't get the support that I need from SonicWall.""I would like them to make the interface a little bit easier to use so you can find out where in the heck you're going instead of having to go to 15 different places to get something installed.""It would be good if Analyzer would be part of the stock license, so even if a layperson is getting the device, he or she doesn't forgets about ordering the Analyzer because it's already there."
