It is a brilliant solution. My advice to those looking into the product would be to ensure that you get trained on how to use the solution so that you can fully appreciate and understand how to effectively implement and manage it. Then, secondly, you should do your research on the price. I don't know what the pricing is like from Fortinet, but we are not allowed to deal directly with them so we had to go through a distributor, which increased the price. Sometimes, if there is only one distributor in an area, you can get exploited.

On the technical side, I would rate this solution as a ten out of ten, but I'm not happy with the price, so as a whole, I would rate it as an eight out of ten.

I would rate Fortinet FortiNAC nine out of ten. The high cost of the license reduces my rating from a perfect ten.

Fortinet FortiNAC offers comprehensive control and visibility of our network, providing detailed information about all connected devices and users, ensuring peace of mind.

I would recommend this solution primarily because, in the majority of cases, we have observed significant improvements in the security posture of our original customers and enterprise users. It effectively addresses issues arising from endpoint connections to the network, contributing to an enhanced overall security solution for our clients. I would rate it nine out of ten.

We did not have good luck with this product. It didn't work for my client. Maybe it works in other setups better, however, for us, it just was a disaster.

I'd rate the product at a three out of ten.

We are using the Fortinet FortiNAC 9.2 version. Since Fortinet FortiNAC is a network access control solution, it is better to have it on-premises, and closer to the devices it will manage.

Sometimes we have a lot of issues either because of the old models of switches the customers are using, or the customer is using a type of switch that is not manageable. However, that's more of a design issue.

You must have a good network for you to be able to use Fortinet FortiNAC. If you don't have a full network project with new devices and router switches, you must first fix your network.

Overall, I rate Fortinet FortiNAC a nine out of ten.

I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

If the deployment is strictly on a wired network it takes about a week however, if it is primarily on a wireless network it can take about three weeks.

Maintaining the solution is easy. The only area that may require additional support is if there is a large number of new guest users on the network. That requires admin approval for each user individually and takes time.

I would say it is a good solution, especially if you have IOT onboarding with a sponsor. You will be able to manage your users in a seamless way.

If you're considering implementing FortiNAC, I recommend determining which type of implementation is suitable for your needs.

FortiNAC can handle most configurations easily, but Cisco ISE works with only Cisco devices. Thus, FortiNAC is suitable for multivendor topologies, whereas Cisco ISE is not. Overall, I would rate FortiNAC at eight out of ten.

You need to think about what you need as a company. There are so many government institutions, so many corporate institutions in the world that want to protect their networks. People have different privileges within a network, an instructor cannot have the same privileges as a normal user and the guest. We have guests coming onto our network, contractors coming to work at different times on the network, the main users who are working in different departments and who shouldn't have access to some platforms. When it comes to authentication you need to make sure you're protected from all kinds of threats. You have different products, Vendors and divices that all need to be controlled. If something goes off you need to know where and why.

I would rate this product a eight out of 10. It's still evolving.

I would advise really considering the use cases that you want to implement. That's because Fortinet has multiple license models. There are Base, Plus, and Pro licenses, and depending on the license model, you have more possibilities for integration. If you want to implement something like a premium device or guest management, you can't take the Base model. You have to directly go to the Plus model or even Pro. Similarly, if you want incident correlations and incident management, you have to go to the higher license version. So, you must consider all the use cases that you want to implement before you make a decision so that you take the correct version.

I would rate it a seven out of 10.

I would recommend Fortinet FortiNAC to others because we did evaluate other NAC solutions and this solution is very good compared to the others. The best benefit of Fortinet FortiNAC is the stability and it can work with other vendors. Some NAC products only work with their products and do not support other vendors.

The major benefit I have found is that this solution can work with other products. A customer typically has more than one vendor, such as access points, printers, and other network products. A lot of the other vendors only are working with their products. It's very important for me that Fortinet FortiNAC can work with the other vendors properly and can integrate easily. When I check the Fortinet website, it shows every vendor's details with an explanation about the integration of the Fortinet FortiNAC. For example, you can find out how to integrate the Fortinet FortiNAC with the Cisco wireless controller. I can find the documents, turn to the pages and find all the information I need. I can find it very easily.

I rate Fortinet FortiNAC a nine out of ten.

I would make sure this product integrates well with the customer’s network before deployment. We had to move away from this product recently on the Wireless side of the network as the Sentry would not integrate well with our Aerohive Wireless Infrastructure. We had an issue where the Sentry would not properly communicate with the APs and thus would let customers blocked from our network for no particular reason. Since this issue went unresolved for over three years, we decided to implement a different Wireless NAC solution and cut back our Bradford licenses to less than half of the original (we’re now using Bradford only to secure our wired network).

I rate Fortinet FortiNAC seven out of 10. It's a configurable product that integrates well with the other Fortinet products. It's easy to use and has a lot of features. It's tough for me to give a product a perfect 10. It must be simple, scalable, stable, and have excellent features covering almost all our technological needs.

Explain you network set-up in full detail with diagrams. VLANs, SSIDs, switch vendors, wireless vendors, subnets. What methods do you use today for wireless authentication (802.1x/WPA2-PSK/Open). Show them everything and what it looks like to be a client on your network today and the process to get on-line. This product manages both wired and wireless network is you choose both options. This product can also do posturing of devices to ensure they meet criteria like current updates and Antivirus etc. We are not using that functionality yet however.

The good thing about FortiNAC is that it's more vendor agnostic. And then we have the deployed FortiNAC activate solution, which are different kinds of firewalls, which works perfectly fine.

On a scale from one to 10, my rating for this program will be a nine. Additional features that I would like to see included in the next release of this solution is more integration with third-party products and probably some improvements on the dashboard.

I try to push the use of this product because sometimes, the complicated solutions like Cisco ISE sometimes make the customers feel annoyed.

My advice to anybody who is considering this solution is that if the budget allows it, the entire security solution should be made up of Fortinet products. They integrate well and it will be better overall. A complete and secure solution will include products like FortiSandbox and FortiAnalyzer as well.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

We use the on-premises deployment model.

In terms of advice I'd give to others, I'd say the most important thing to worry about is organizing the network, like active directory groups and groups of users, etc. Organize the groups with VLAN IDs that are not too specific and the VLANs should be on all company switches.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
