TIBCO BusinessWorks Initial Setup
The initial setup is straightforward.
If you would like to deploy something easy, then you can deploy it in a day. If you know the product exactly and what you want to do, it is not difficult to deploy. It can take a day if you want to do a quick communication between one system and another.
If the infrastructure is already set up, you only need to do the design part. Once you have the design part in, and it tests without errors, you just need to deploy it onto the administrator. You go to BusinessWorks, log in as administrator, and then deploy it. You will need to deploy the EAR file.
When you have set up your environment and everything runs fine, you can deploy the solution on your own. You don't need a consultant.
You only need about three people for deployment if you have permanent people on it. But if they are busy with other developments, and depending on the size of the company, you will need about five people.

The initial setup of TIBCO BusinessWorks was straightforward since we have used the solution in our organization for a long time. Because of our past experiences with the product, we have team members with experts in handling the setup phase of the solution.
The solution is deployed on-premises.

The initial setup was complex. On a scale of one to five, with one being simple and five being complex, I would give the initial setup process a three and a half.

The initial setup process was not simple. It's not simple for a production environment or for a developer station. Usually, the best is working on gear to our machines. It takes a shorter amount of time to set up the environment locally. This solution doesn't really require any maintenance.

It is simple. The deployment hardly takes five to eight minutes. but the internal implementation can take time depending on the business scenario. We have around 800 plus APIs as of now.
View full review »The initial setup has a technical learning curve. The product is deployed on the cloud. The deployment took less than half an hour. Everything is automated. However, It took us years to get to the automation.
The initial setup was simple because it's what we call low-code/no-code. I think that as long as you come from a programming background, it's easy to understand and you can easily implement TIBCO BusinessWorks. It's more of a drag-and-drop, and then it generates codes in the background. I'll give credit to TIBCO at least on that front. It's easy for guys to come in and, within a month, they can start implementing without having prior knowledge of TIBCO. So it's easy to learn and start implementation.
When I joined my company, I had a team that was already competent in TIBCO, in terms of development and support, so it was easy to be trained. Initially, I think they were using one of the system integrators to support them, but by the time I joined, we had enough competency within the team to support and develop it.

It has medium complexity. It is not easy, and it is also not complex. It is not a one-day training. At the same time, as a developer, you don't need five years to become an expert.
It is usually deployed on-premise. Since they launched TIBCO Cloud Integration (TCI), cloud deployments are increasing.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult, and ten is easy, I rate the initial setup a nine.
The deployment process for the solution took a week's time, and it was done ten years ago. Since it was a simple deployment, only three people were required to deploy it. The people involved in the deployment work are from the infrastructure and product teams.

Setting up BusinessWorks is complex because we have multiple active-active sites for high availability and disaster recovery. Deployment takes about three days and involves two or three engineers. We register a domain and deploy messaging components like Huawei and EMS and finally, the CRM.

I recall that the initial implementation was done by TIBCO and I imagine that it took no more than a couple of weeks. We tend to refer to TIBCO consultancy when necessary. We have around 40 users in the organization and maintenance is handled by a team of four engineers.

I think the setups that I have done were mostly straightforward. They really did not require a lot of back and forth or complicated configurations. But in some scenarios, I have had complicated implementations. These are businesses with complex business requirements and that is when I need to contact the support at TIBCO.
The initial setup normally takes between a week to two weeks. This is for the deployment and then after that, we spend a little time doing some testing. It is really not an outrageous amount of time for deployment at all.
The tool's installation process is easy.
