HPE Hyper Converged Other Advice

I would recommend using this solution.

Overall, I would rate this solution a seven out of ten because the product has a lot of room for improvement. The production is at a seven out of ten, but I would only rate it an eight if HPE had more things to do with the product.

My data is not big enough to scale up, so I do not need scalability. HPE Hyper Converged is a stable and useful product. If we add more hard disks, we will need a larger power supply to run them. Overall, I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

This solution is for small- or medium-scale organizations and not for large scale companies. However, I would strongly recommend not going with HPE Hyper Converged because of the availability of a dHCI solution, which is the new technology.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate HPE Hyper Converged at eight. If scalability is not an issue for an organization, then this solution will meet their requirements.

The maintenance part of the solution is easy, as users can get end-to-end support from HPE. Even if you use VMware vSphere Hypervisor, HPE provides you with L1 and L2 support. HPE support is very good since it provides an automated single window for every problem.

Those who want flexibility, ease of use, and a simple support system can opt for HPE.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

I would recommend it because of the global support they provide, the ease of installation, and the availability of after-sales support.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. More customization and improved backup efficiency compared to traditional systems. These features would make it a ten and are what I recommend to others using HPE.

dSCI is Disaggregated Hyper Convergence. For the existing investment that a customer has done on a HPE platform, for example, they don't need to throw away that investment because they can re-utilize them in the dHCI configuration. Secondly, it's more scalable at the component level. That means I can upgrade when required for storage or computing needs separately. I don't need to do the same, like what they used to do in SimpliVity.

Until recently, I was selling HPE SimpliVity. After dHCI has come in the picture with Nimble, we started promoting that because they have better features. When it comes to Hyper Convergence only, the features in SimpliVity and dHCI are different.

Make sure that you order the right connectors to connect to your existing storage to move everything. Make sure that you have that inter-connect to move all your data off of your old legacy equipment.

I just know that it works. If you find a good partner that gives you a PoC unit, I'm sure that they'll find that it's quick to get up and running.

We are using the on-premises deployment model.

If you're looking for virtualization solutions, this is a very good product. If you're an organization that does not need virtualization or has some applications that cannot use it, you should look into other solutions, such as HP Synergy. That's an enterprise-level product, however. It's not suitable for SMBs.

I would rate the solution nine out of ten.

For us, once our vendor explained this option we knew it was right for what we wanted to do. We're a marketing company and we need to change and react quickly and respond to business ideas very quickly. This virtual environment really is responsive to that. I don't see a downside to it from anybody else's point of view. I would recommend it to just about anybody who was considering it.

Our biggest considerations were how big we were going to go with it so we would end up with three ProLiants, but we need four. What's the storage capacity? What percentage of it is SSD as opposed to hard disks and those kinds of things. That is, for us, where we really had to scratch our heads and think very carefully about that to get the most out of our dollar for that and then how we would budget in the future. When you're putting it together, if you're on a tight budget, we're a small company so we had a pretty tight budget, we were able to do it in such a way to provision it pretty lightly, without a lot of headroom, knowing that in the future the scalability and flexibility of the system will really allow you to add and expand later with very little pain.

I use the on-premises deployment model.

HP has more experience making hyper-converge conversions, so they're easy to manage, and there are a lot of products that are compatible with it. Whether or not it would work for others depends on their environment. The solution would work best for businesses that are small to medium in size. I'm not sure how well it would work in a large environment.

I would recommend the product to others. I would rate it eight out of ten.

I would say that this solution is good depending on your needs and on budget. It's a good solution. Compared to the previous solution we used, it may not be vas good. But generally speaking, it's okay. I cannot say anything bad. It's only very small differences.

I would rate this solution eight out of 10. I would still like to see some other hypervisors available as an option to be used on the system - like KVM or Microsoft Hyper-V.

You can build similar solutions by just using regular servers and then using 3PAR Storage. You can create the same kind of continuity and reliability so you don't have one unit that is enclosed.

When choosing a vendor, I look for reliability, continuity, and price.

My entire environment is actualized in VMware.

Before choosing a product, think why you are buying, the reason, and what you are looking to get from it. If you have too much data or you want to store data, seeking a hyperconverged storage will be costly. It will not be efficient for you. You should look into alternative storage solutions and ways of implementation before buying a hyperconverged solution. Make sure you are actually need those features.

The future is in hyperconverged solutions. They are much easier to manage and run. They are flawless. You can just log into VMware and have everything in front of you. However, it's costly compared to a traditional setup.

A company should look at the data protection features, because in the end, the most valuable asset in any organization is its data. It should be protected as much as possible. Consider the way it works, with its space saving and space efficiency. Those are the key factors you should look at before deciding on a solution.

I would rate HPE Hyper Converged as seven out of ten.

I would rate VxRail as a nine out of ten.

The assessment of the current configuration is the most important to make a good sizing of the new solution because it does good duplication and compression, but it's really hard to select the correct product sizing.

I would rate this solution as nine out of ten because ten is perfect and there is nothing on the market that is perfect.

My advice to others would be to clearly know what you want. Do you want more disk space? More storage? What is your goal with this program? In a hyper-converged environment you have many applications that need more storage and then it gets expensive. Also if you want to scale and if you have to do backups and make snapshots. If you need regular storage, you simply use a disc in and it's easier.

I rate this solution a five or six out of ten.

It is a very robust solution and easy to manage. If you do not have the budget limitation constraints, my advice is to go for HPE SimpliVity as it is the most complete solution until now, if I am not mistaken.
