The initial setup was pretty straightforward. There were a couple of things with integrating and some areas where it gets a bit more complex, but for the most part, it was very straightforward, especially for how powerful a solution it is. We're running a fairly advanced setup here with multiple scanning engines, scanning pools, and integrations into other systems in our environment and all of that. Defining all of the sites and asset grouping and all of those sorts of things, took some additional time after that. You'd have to do that no matter what.

As for deployment time, it varies based on the size of the organization and network sensitivity. For example, in a bank, scans might only happen at specific times, like during the night. Generally, deployment can be quick, but there are many factors to consider. You install the console and the scan engine, and then configure them based on network complexity. Scans themselves take less than 20-30 minutes, but the non-technical aspects, like setting up profiles and firewall rules, can take more time.I would rate it 8 out of 10.

View full review »Implementing InsightVM was straightforward. Setting it up to scan external networks at the perimeter was effortless; I just needed to create a cloud account and start using the solution. For internal network scanning, I installed the software on my notebook, which took about five to ten minutes for a single version setup, but it is important to note that it doesn't support Windows platforms.

It is not complex. I would rate it a three out of five in terms of the ease of the setup.
View full review »The initial setup was an easy task because we have a Linux server installed.
InsightVM has a framework that's very interesting, and they have very detailed documentation. They have step-by-step directions for the installation process, and we can download them from their site. This means that anyone can easily install it and configure it.
The harder part is writing the queries. We need to have knowledge of InsightVM and how queries, assets, and conditional formats occur. Extensive knowledge can be valuable at this stage of the process.

I don't handle the installation, but it was not difficult to implement. The basic setup took us about four days or so.
Normally, for a product like this, the complexity of implementation is proportional to the size of the infrastructure that is going to be scanned and also how heterogeneous it is. An enterprise product like this is not like using a coffee maker. You need to have some knowledge of where you are installing it. You also need to have some knowledge of the technology that you are going to scan. You can't scan everything in the same way.

The product's initial setup phase was very easy.
The solution can be deployed in a few hours. The time required depends on the scale of the deployment. If there are 1,000 or 10,000 deployments to be done, then it takes time. If the customer provides a Q&A to calculate the design of the network, then the process becomes easier. If the customer does not know about their network, then the deployment process takes time since our company has to discuss several things with them before starting the process.

The initial setup is not so complex. It is quickly deployable configurable and integrated with your existing setup.
The common process for Rapid7 InsightVM involves comparing it against their standard procedures to ensure compliance with the required licenses and resources. Users download the necessary files and initiate/reactivate licenses. Certain configurations are also set up. This process typically takes two to three days for the department, but we usually allocate a week for completion.
Our team feels enabled enough after completing the training session on Rapid7 InsightVM. We conduct our tests independently, and whenever we need support, we seek assistance directly from Rapid7. This process isn't overly complex or time-consuming. We ensure thorough preparation by gathering all necessary information, addressing internet concerns, and informing the customer. Once fully prepared, we proceed forward.

The initial setup is quite easy. It's easy to use. You can deploy it in less than one hour. Everything happens very fast. It just depends on how long you want to test before implementation. The tuning, however, is a bigger process.

The initial setup was not complex and it was easy to implement.
It took a week to prepare and install the virtual machine, and to implement the solution it took one month.
Our Regulatory requires that all banks must implement all security solutions on-premises, not on the cloud because they are worried that the data will be compromised and available on different data centers around the world.

The solution is straightforward to set up. I'd rate it four out of five in terms of ease of implementation.
We have one or two team members that can set up the solution.
How long it takes to deploy depends on the customer. For a small customer, it's less than one month or sometimes two weeks. For a big customer with many assets and services, it takes two or three months to deploy.
We only need to have one or two people on hand to handle maintenance tasks.

I have not idea how long deployment took. I'm not sure if it was a long process or not.
Maintenance was handled by our security division. I don't know if there was one person or there were multiple admins that handled that aspect of the solution.

View full review »The initial installation and setup were pretty much straightforward. We did run into an issue with credentialing. We ended up working through that and got that correct.
I think it was done fairly quickly overall. When we ran into that credentialing issue, we spent about three weeks or so — almost a month — working through that. The issue meant involving some guys from some of the other IT teams and getting them into the mix to help us out.
View full review »The solution doesn't really have a complex setup. It's easy to set up and integrate with the endpoint. We install insights at our endpoints to help us collect vulnerability information from there.
We can also install it again and again and use active scanning to conduct vulnerability testing at the endpoints. It's very simple.
Deployment doesn't take long at all. Currently, we can deploy in around two or three days and then integrate it with the endpoint after we've gotten clear instructions from InsightVM.
The steps we choose for implementation are as follows: we first need to follow the instructions to install network communication, from the endpoint to InsightVM. Network communication from the endpoint will go to the scan engine and from the scan engine to the management console of Insight.
After we satisfy this, we start implementation and we start to deploy the engine to the endpoint. After that, we run a scan from the site configuration of each endpoint scope and we file the report displayed on the dashboard. Lastly, we export the report and provide it to the correct person that needs to be involved at the IT end of things.
In terms of the number of staff we use for deployment, from our side, we have two people to help manage everything. For the customer, we have four people to coordinate with the internal team. In total, we have six people involved with deployment. Our team includes a deployment engineer and from the customer's side, members of security operations.

When it comes to the process, installation is very easy and does not take long. As a matter of course, installing a VM and connecting to a portal is easy. That is all that is needed. Time-wise, this may take an hour. Once the portal and scanner are connected one can start getting the environment.

The initial setup is not complex. As soon as you deploy, you start by opening all of the needed communication tools on all of the target systems. In our situation, we deployed gradually as opposed to doing everyone at the same time.
We have five people who have access to this solution and can maintain it. They do not work on it full-time but can do site scanning and generate reports when needed.
