Visual Studio Test Professional Room for Improvement
Over the years, I haven't identified any specific enhancements that I desire; Visual Studio has consistently met my requirements seamlessly and flawlessly.

We found the documentation to be limited and we had problems with the vendor who delivered it which added to the complexity. I'd like to see improvement in the dashboard which currently lacks visibility regarding the working process of the solutions.

The product must provide more integration. It must integrate some services provided by Google.
View full review »One significant issue is when there are multiple annual updates, and we are developing a project, it should be compatible. We may need to either upgrade or downgrade the project, depending on the package. That can be a difficult and bothersome task. We need to maintain the same version of the environment. So compatibility should be improved.
For additional features, it can also support the Python language. We can develop using Python features in Visual Studio. It would be great to support other languages and applications, and that is one of the things we can improve. Visual Studio is very open, and we can develop in no time.
View full review »The tool crashes and has high memory consumption. Sometimes, it doesn't support certain features. The performance must be improved.

The solution's documentation could be improved because it keeps disappearing from the solution. There used to be references material that were incorporated in the solution, but most of it has moved to online. The solution may need to have some simulator for Android.
The solution’s integration with Mac could be improved. It would be easy if the solution can simulate or have an environment that mimics it during development work.
The solution needs to find a way of integrating newer technologies like AI and machine learning.
The performance could be faster. Microsoft should come with a universal license.

We need high-end machines to use Visual Studio. The vendor must release a lightweight version of the solution.
View full review »It is not good in terms of performance. When you open Visual Studio, you have to wait for a while to process your code. It uses a lot of resources and has a lot of features. If we could disable some of the features, it would be lighter and faster to use. Nowadays, for some of the projects, we use VS Code for JavaScript or Python. VS Code is very light and easy to use, whereas, in Visual Studio, we have to wait because it takes time to compile or run a project. It has a lot of competitors in terms of performance, such as Intelligent ID. Intelligent ID is very easy to use. It has many features, and it is lighter to use than Visual Studio.
In terms of error handling, sometimes, it shows an error before you finish your code, which can be improved. It would be good if it has a version for Linux. I use VS Code on Linux, but I am not sure if Visual Studio has a version for Linux.

The product is only available on Windows. It could be available for multiple platforms and other operating systems like Mac with a native port. It is challenging to use it for larger projects. Also, it needs to be rewritten with additional features.

In Visual Studio we still don't have anything which can pinpoint memory leaks on a certain code line. It gives me memory analysis, however, it's not taking me to the code lines. That's what I was searching for in Micro Focus. If I could find a product that works exactly like BoundsChecker or better, then I would switch to that.

The designs are not really very appealing. When you make the design, it's quite basic which includes the icons. The tool needs to include brighter colors and be more user-friendly. The interface should be made attractive.

The service right now is far too expensive. You need to pay per user.
The solution needs more reports and more dashboards as well as more details for each originated spare test case or best guess in test cases.
There are still some issues in the results. There is an extension integrated with the test manager that enables you to run manual testing and to track the progress of any scenarios you've written in the Test Professional. We have noticed some bugs in this extension and this is the core of running the manual test cases. These bugs need to be resolved. They have to enhance or to add more stability to this extension specifically.

I particularly use some templates around BI that are called SQL servers, data, and tools, and they are an extension to Visual Studio. Some of them are like integration services that would benefit from some improvements, but I think Microsoft has other things that they might want to improve first. I would, however, like to see an improvement in the data flow.
