We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"It makes work visible, so everybody knows where everything is. It uses Kanban, and that makes work visible."
"We use the board and card hierarchies in terms of sprints so that we can see if we have cross-functional teams that are working on the same projects together, especially when projects have dependencies. The parent-child relationship within cards is really nice so that we can see what kind of dependencies there are when we're trying to get projects finished."
"My team specifically uses our board for all of our Remedy tickets that come in. We had a card for every ticket that we get, and we're able to add the link to that specific ticket there. If I'm out of office, for example, and someone else needs to work a ticket or someone is being contacted to work on a ticket, I don't have to sign on it. Someone else can easily access that ticket because I put the link in there. It's nice. It has a lot of great functionality in there."
"Using the tool seems to save time versus trying to do things in a regular manner. It is highly collaborative; everybody can see things in one place. It is a highly functional, but pretty simple tool. That is hard to find: A tool that has a lot of functions, but is also simple."
"The graphics and the resolution of the work are very good."
"With JIRA, you can do amazing things by developing connectors, embedding features, and adding new fields to create new things."
"The developers can simplify tasks and each one of them can undertake a task and then they continue with development. Our processes are more efficient and easier for our manager and developers to track them. Their work is more organized."
"The dashboard is the most valuable feature. The user experience is very good, it's easy to use."
"The product's centralized database creates a single source of data for working groups so no data needs to be reconciled."
"The product makes it easy to collaborate even though it can use some improvement in that area."
"The integration is very good. We've more or less integrated with everything including reporting and registering."
"The customized workflows we can define are very valuable. JIRA's private projects is very useful as well. There are also a lot of plugins that they provide."
"It's very user friendly."
"Smartsheet does a really good job of creating Gantt charts. Export to Excel feature was also very useful."
"The fact that you can have different access groups is definitely a pro for Smartsheet. It also has the ability to integrate with a lot of tools."
"I do not know what it can do in the area of scrum. Maybe it has that functionality. I have never tried to set it up. You think of LeanKit from the perspective of Kanban. I don't know if there is a template for scrum, a scaled agile framework, or any of those scaling frameworks."
"Being able to track actual time on cards or sprints, instead of using just the planned start and stop date, would also be useful. I would like to see something like JIRA has with actual sprint starts and stops."
"The ability to report on customizable fields and third-party extensions needs improvement. I'd like to see more of those being able to be used. I don't know how that works for Planview, but just getting a little bit more added there would be nice."
"The integration with the Enterprise One product is probably an area for improvement. It's not really broken. It's just that it is such a handy tool and a great way to visually manage things. There is a very limited hookup/integration between Enterprise One, which is the master Planview tool, and LeanKit. While they are looking at this on their roadmap, it definitely needs to happen. There is a lot of opportunity there."
"If I get a feature but there is not a user story, and I want to know which epic it belongs to, it is really hard to figure out."
"This solution is not able to be integrated with other solutions because you have to upgrade it and pay for more licensing."
"I think that front-end development is a little bit buggy in some cases. Some of the features take a while to respond and some need to be more clear."
"The initial setup could use improvement."
"The product could do with more flexible reporting."
"Some key features like integration, big data warehousing and data modeling need work."
"The workflow needs improvement."
"I think their view needs to be more user friendly. The UI makes it difficult to find things. Secondly, the configuration is very complex. JIRA should help people find out what configuration they are using."
"The dashboard is not user-friendly, it needs improvement."
"The downside of Smartsheet is that there are some security concerns. We were able to restrict people from sharing sheets with anyone who was not in our domain, but it could be easier. We also found it hard to restrict certain user groups from adding attachments to sheets."
"It already has a really powerful Export to Excel feature, but it can have an Excel add-on. The way to set up single sign-on wasn't too easy in the beginning, and it was hard to get hold of customer service. They should make it easier to set up SSO. Smartsheet's customer service also definitely needs to be improved."
"In general, Planview's cost structure is reasonable. You get quite a lot of functionality for the license cost that you get."
"The pricing of the solution is expensive."
"We only have nine people using it so we have a standard cost of $150 dollar per year. There are only additional costs if you exceed the limit of users, then you start paying by user. The cost is significantly higher."
"The pricing continues to get higher."
"The product is really not very expensive."
"We pay our fees annually, although monthly payments are also available."
"This licensing is straightforward and they charge per user."
"Its licensing is on a yearly basis. I was responsible for negotiating the price with the Smartsheet team, but I don't remember what the price was. Its standard license probably was around 5,000 to 6,000 a year. The enterprise version is significantly more expensive."
