We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
The nice thing about Spiceworks is always it's free. Monitoring of printers for low toner. Finding machines that have low memory or low hard disk space. It shows the users that are currently logged in, which is not something that Active Directory by default will ever let you know up front. The most valuable features are the inventory and personalization. The solution can find all asset details automatically, whether it's a Mac address, computer name, IP address, models, etc. It's very helpful. The solution is very stable. It's reliable and efficient.

The documentation is very good. The installation and configuration process are easy. The most valuable features are network bandwidth monitoring and monitoring device health.I use it on premises to monitor my network database. We monitor the link up/down and use the SNMP traps as well. This is a good, stable network monitoring solution for devices. The interface in the last few years it has been a lot greater, they are much more user-friendly. I like the interface. We no longer have to manually search for problems because we are alerted when something in the network goes down. The most valuable feature is the monitoring of resources.

Cons
There are a lot of disadvantages to Spiceworks because it's not an agent-based solution. The network mapping could be improved. Putting together an actual bonafide network map would be really nice.Having an integrated asset management tool, where I can plug in things that are offline, would be good.It would be nice to have remote access to the solution via a tablet. They also need remote control from a PC. Right now, to complete the technical support process, you have to have a tool to access the PC, and check the problems.I would like the solution to allow for more direct interaction with computers. I can open tickets and I can see their status, but I can't interact directly with the computers themselves.

The licensing model could be improved. Right now, the levels are too far apart. This causes the solution to be more expensive than it needs to be.Users want SMS available via Whatsapp Gold. They don't want to go through third party SMS servers. The solution should work to make this possible.Integrations with other devices. I want to have a product that has full integration with my active directory so I can track user activity. I want to track my complete user activity, so I'm looking for a product to implement in the near future, which will have full integration with my network and active directory users. It became very difficult to track user activity.I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy.Adding on services increases the cost and on the version we have there is no option for ATM monitoring. One of the biggest things that made us start to look at another product is we're not able to have an end to end monitoring from a user perspective throughout the system and back to the user. All the monitoring is from inside out, we need something that also can give us from outside in.The pricing for this solution has gone up quite recently, which has led some of our customers to buy an alternative product.I would like to see better integration with switches so that you can see what is connected to each port, what the traffic is, and have a network map automatically generated.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
There are some subscription charges that are quite heavy. I need to pay for support every year and these charges can be quite expensive. Aside from the initial cost for the tool, you need to pay additionally for support. The pricing can be on the expensive side when considering competing products. The choice of version depends on the number of points, or devices, that you want to monitor, and this makes the product expensive.I'm not sure, but it's expensive. We don't pay any additional fees.Pricing is reasonable compared to other products.
