ESET Endpoint Protection Platform Scalability

ManojNair2 - PeerSpot reviewer
Founder/Director at Augesys Solutions Pvt Ltd

For a mid-size company of a couple of hundred users of up to around 500 users, the solution will be fine. Even if you have a couple of thousand users, it still will be fine. Especially when you're dealing with the cloud, it scales well. The service provider manages the instance and you don't have to worry about a drop in quality.

The product can scale quite well. It's not a problem.

We have about 11 people (or a bit less) on the solution right now. We only have 11 stations and, therefore, will not need to increase usage anytime soon.

I would rate the scalability of this solution a two, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best. If you have a big network, it's quite hard to scale.

The product is the only one I've ever known so far in terms of such deployment. I'm not comparing it with any other solutions. I love the control that it gives you on even on a large scale. When we deployed now to over 100 users and it worked well. For us, it is scalable.

Right now, we're up to 120 machines. It keeps increasing and therefore we will increase usage.

ESET Support at a computer software company with 11-50 employees

Everything depends on how well you've built your network. If your network is centralized, has good bandwidth, and you have the correct set of permissions, you'll have no problem deploying ESET. If your network topography is decentralized, you'll need more steps. Also, there is a cloud solution. The cloud-based ESET Protect server can manage up to 50,000 computers, so keep it in mind if you have more.

ESET Endpoint Antivirus is a proven product, built for the last 35 years, brushed and polished to perfection. Customers rarely see malfunctioning of any kind, and if it happens, support will take care of it immediately. There are five different methods to deploy protection on endpoints, with the ability to set the smallest detail in the process. And pretty much everything works flawlessly. There are no limitations to the number of distribution points, number of administrators, configurations of permission sets, or anything that can interfere with the solution's scalability.

I don't have a need to implement ESET Endpoint Security for more than 10 machines, so I don't know how they would handle a higher volume. I'm not sure how I could automate that, in terms of how to download the new versions, and all the security signatures, etc. I assume it can be done, but I have no idea.

It is somewhat scalable. However, if you need just a few licenses, you sometimes have to buy more than you need. They are sold in packs, bundles and even five-user licenses, so if someone wants to get one license, they may have to buy five, which isn't logical.

ESET Endpoint Security is most suitable with an SMB enterprise environment, not a larger Enterprise. ESET Remote Administrator server is able to manage easily if users are 1000 or less without any issues. In larger enterprises environments (more than 1000 users), we have to do proper DB sizing and hardware sizing, since in some cases, ERA server gets slow while handling the ESET Agents.
