ScienceLogic is highly regarded for its serverless and agent connectivity, versatile graphs and personalized dashboards, AIOps, and event management capabilities, as well as its AI and machine learning features.
Room for Improvement: TrueSight users say the solution could allow the user to drill down more and improve interoperability. ScienceLogic can enhance its documentation, Power Packs, notification features, and automation options.
Service and Support: Some customers praised BMC support as quick and efficient, but others experienced delayed responses and said some engineers lacked product knowledge. ScienceLogic's customer service is generally considered responsive and professional. However, a few users reported delayed response times and support engineers with limited expertise.
Ease of Deployment: BMC TrueSight Operations Management's setup can be more challenging and time-consuming than some solutions. ScienceLogic's initial setup is described as simple and efficient. The deployment process can be completed within a few hours or a couple of weeks.
Pricing: BMC TrueSight Operations Management is geared toward enterprise customers, so it’s more costly than some, but the price is negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Opinions on the price of ScienceLogic were mixed. Pricing is determined by the number of network devices or endpoints, and there are no hidden charges.
ROI: Users said TrueSight’s ROI is difficult to quantify and uncertain. ScienceLogic improves troubleshooting and minimizes network outages.
Comparison Results: BMC TrueSight Operations Management is a premium enterprise solution suitable for large enterprises. It features comprehensive monitoring capabilities and excellent reporting. However, TrueSight’s steep price tag may put it out of reach for many small businesses, the setup is complicated, and the solution’s support has received mixed reviews. ScienceLogic is praised for its serverless and agent connectivity, effortless setup, and customized dashboards. However, it lacks detailed documentation and automation options.
"The solution's event management capabilities are fantastic. We do a best of breed. If, on the network side, they use a different tool, we pull all that data in so that we have a single console. It's kind of like the monitor of monitors. We're able to aggregate all the different types of data sets, whether it's log data, app data, OS data, infrastructure data, or network data. We're able to aggregate all those events and then correlate and be able to say we're having an event."
"The major advantage of the product is estate management."
"We're using native monitoring capabilities for all our server hardware, for visibility for applications, for URLs, for webpage response and accuracy, and for monitoring network throughput in a lot of particular instances. We're using lightweight protocols for pinging, for DNS, for LDAP."
"It is a very stable product."
"From an administrative standpoint, what stands out in TrueSight is the ability to implement quickly. When they have a requirement to monitor something, we're able to turn that on quickly in their environment. We're able to set up new apps within a day."
"We have one application, which is fairly large. In the past, we had Level 1 and 2 NOC support teams who were responsible for watching dashboards. When they saw an issue in the application, they would call Level 2 or 3 support and escalate the call, if necessary. Now, through the use of this product, we have been able to reduce the headcount by five people, as we are able to eliminate the eyes on the glass. We no longer have people watching the dashboard. We have events which are processed automatically through the system and get to the right people. We had six people in L1s, and now have one. So, we reduced five out of six headcount, which is pretty significant."
"I like the event management part."
"I believe that the ease of use and UI is great"
"The power flow is great."
"The tool is quite easy to deploy, and it offers very good support."
"It is simple."
"Provides agentless monitoring so there's no need to install the agent on each server."
"Power packs."
"It is very easy to configure because we are using an agent-less version. You can very quickly implement a collector for monitoring device servers."
"When it comes to features, the power pack is the most valuable."
"Science Logic provides distributed and all-in-one concept in monitoring, you can easily customize the features in this product."
"The dashboard and performance graphs should include a way to automatically schedule and export reports."
"There are some small limitations with this tool in terms of reporting dashboards that fit all of the requirements of the individual customer."
"Specifically around application performance monitoring, BMC is definitely not the market leader. The Dynatraces, the New Relics and the like are more of the market leaders in that space. I would like to see them grow that space a little bit more aggressively. It has not really been their bread and butter."
"The one piece that I would love to see is a general-purpose, configurable agent which would be a framework that you can deploy on anything, whether it be Java or anything else. It would allow you to easily deploy it on a platform that they support."
"This solution is lacking in application monitoring features. Technical support for this solution also needs improvement, particularly in product knowledge and response time."
"I would like to see a little more out-of-the-box event correlation and expanded AIOps type capabilities. Where you can train your artificial intelligence operations to be able to memorize an issue once you encounter one scenario, so if you encounter that same problem, you can get to the root cause very quickly."
"Application performance management (APM) is an area with certain shortcomings in the solution that needs improvement. I"
"I would really like to see out-of-the-box support for monitoring uninterruptible power supplies."
"One important area we feel could be improved is the UI. It takes a lot of clicks to do very simple tasks."
"The product must educate its strategic partners for deployment."
"The product's reporting functionalities have certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required."
"They should add CLI command modes and scripts for high performance."
"They need a little more self-service."
"Addressing duplicate IPs: There is the ability to edit the DB and fix this, but adding some logic to understand them would be a plus."
"ScienceLogic could improve the implementation, it could be made easier."
"Admins do not have direct access to the reporting."
