We performed a comparison between BMC TrueSight Operations Management and ServiceNow IT Operations Management based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Event Monitoring solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."From an administrative standpoint, what stands out in TrueSight is the ability to implement quickly. When they have a requirement to monitor something, we're able to turn that on quickly in their environment. We're able to set up new apps within a day."
"Helix Innovation Studio is a very good feature. It allows us to develop our own enterprise applications and make them available for the customers."
"It works irrespective of the operating system we’re running."
"I like the event management part."
"I use the solution to monitor servers, databases, Windows, Linux, and web services."
"I believe that the ease of use and UI is great"
"We have one application, which is fairly large. In the past, we had Level 1 and 2 NOC support teams who were responsible for watching dashboards. When they saw an issue in the application, they would call Level 2 or 3 support and escalate the call, if necessary. Now, through the use of this product, we have been able to reduce the headcount by five people, as we are able to eliminate the eyes on the glass. We no longer have people watching the dashboard. We have events which are processed automatically through the system and get to the right people. We had six people in L1s, and now have one. So, we reduced five out of six headcount, which is pretty significant."
"It is a very stable product."
"The dashboard maintenance is very good, and the tool doesn't get stuck."
"Their Event Management is very good."
"The Discovery feature is the most valuable. I only use the Discovery and Service Mapping features. I am using the minor subscription called ITOM Visibility, which includes the Discovery and Service Mapping features. It is easy to understand and easy to use. It has a lot of documentation. You can find a lot of help online, which helps me in finding what I need in a rapid way. You can find videos on YouTube channels and a lot of stuff and information in the online community."
"The most valuable feature of ServiceNow IT Operations Management is the user interface."
"The most important features of ServiceNow IT Operations Management are the discovery service mapping and orchestration."
"ITOM communicates information about incidents and maintains them. It handles tickets change, manages service networks, and reduces IT service downtime for the organization."
"It is flexible. You can tune it, more or less, as you want."
"Has service mapping, impact management, metric intelligence and health of analytics."
"BMC TrueSight Operations Management could use some enhancements in the application visibility tools."
"The sizing (which is difficult), the maintenance of it and the upgrade paths. This is a difficult area which is not easy to cover, as every client has a different approach of implementing the product."
"We were somewhat limited in TrueSight due to some of the RBAC controls not quite being what we wanted as far as delegating out administrative privileges for implementation. But because we were able to turn requests around pretty well, that burden wasn't too heavy."
"The stability of BMC TrueSight Operations Management needs improvement. My organization's infrastructure is vast and implemented based on BMC recommendations, but the solution needs to be optimized for large-capacity infrastructure."
"Deployment requires lots of resources (servers). It has too many consoles."
"I would really like to see out-of-the-box support for monitoring uninterruptible power supplies."
"BMC's solutions for cloud monitoring (monitoring of AWS and Azure resources) are very poor in stability and customization."
"The solution is overly complex."
"The solution's licensing model is a bit complicated. It should be simple and easy for people to understand."
"The pricing is high."
"ServiceNow IT Operations Management could do a little bit better with integrations. Integrating ServiceNow IT Operations Management with CMDB processes needs a little more work."
"ServiceNow IT Operations Management could be improved by providing more user customization options."
"There are not enough apps in the app store to expand functionality. There should be more made available."
"The pricing of some modules is higher because they are sold in packages. If we need something specific, we cannot take it individually."
"I advise others not to customize a lot while using the solution."
"When it comes to improvements, I think that my colleagues and I often have issues finding the correct screen and the search box does not work as intended."
