SAP CRM Other Advice

Shreyas K M S - PeerSpot reviewer
Systems Architect at NetApp

I rate SAP CRM nine out of 10. My advice to potential SAP CRM users is to have a plan. You need to do the proper planning before implementing a CRM. It's crucial to internally gather all the business requirements that must be migrated. For example, the sales teams might have CRM data for their campaigns, and different teams will use this CRM for data forecasting, etc.

Whenever any company wants to implement CRM, they need business insights about their company to understand how to leverage this product. Sometimes the company might not use all the available features, but they don't know it.

It's best to work with SAP when you're deciding. They will do all the evaluations and guide you on implementing the product. You should take advantage of professional services like CRM consultants and infrastructure architects.

I wouldn't recommend the tool's on-premise version. Perhaps in a year or two, the SAP Sales Cloud could be a good option. Overall, I don't have problems with SAP; it integrates very well with other SAP products like SAP ERP. I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

SAP C4C is very simple. We used it for a simple module, like lead and opportunity. The integration capabilities on the cloud are a bit rigid. It is not flexible. When people visit websites, we take the cookies, try to create leads and communicate with them. Organizations that want to buy the product must consider their return on investment and why they need SAP. They must consider why they cannot use any other product. If the business process is complex and we need good integration, we can choose SAP.

The solution is complex for businesses where people place orders and make payments. We will have to integrate the solution with a data warehouse for the communication to go in and out. I rate the product a five out of ten for such a scenario. If an organization only does sales and marketing, I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

It's entirely recommended, especially now that you are interested in seeing something like HANA, which is a very good product that can process your huge databases that would normally take three hours in five minutes, for example, because of the way the structure, the other business at the time. So, it's something to use, especially for bigger companies, which have quite a huge database.

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Compared to Salesforce, HubSpot, or anything else, the solution is not good. We are a 150-year-old company with 400,000 employees worldwide. SAP as a company has a certain trust that it commands regarding the availability and functionalities and the ability to support the highly complex enterprise use cases that we have. There are 200 to 400 other units globally within our company. Each of them has their own requirements from SAP CRM. They could be using it differently than what we are using it for.

HubSpot or Salesforce should do the job if you need services for a big company. If you're a small company, just go blindly to HubSpot. I prefer Salesforce or HubSpot over SAP. I recommend Salesforce for large companies above a billion dollars in revenue. HubSpot is the right choice for a company with less than a hundred million in revenue.

Overall, I rate the solution a four out of ten.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate SAP CRM an eight.

This is because, as I have said, sometimes I see some downtime and sometimes some error messages coming. For some technical reason, users faces some error messages and sometime it becomes very slow. It should not be like this. That's why I have taken 2 points off. Otherwise it is okay.

If a company wants to change from SAP CRM it is very difficult. They would need to train hundreds of employees. They will be stuck with SAP CRM. My clients use this solution for their HR system, payroll, leave the system, and invoicing system, and everything is linked to SAP CRM only.

My clients will soon to SAP HANA or maybe SAP cloud.

I would recommend SAP CRM.

I rate the solution an eight out of ten. The solution is good, but the user interface could be more intuitive. It's a good tool because in the same software, in the ERP, you have a CRM and all the administration, documents and policies in the same product. So you can use and make maintenance and support in the same platform, that's very good, that's fine. So it isn't easy to find this integration solution.

For an SAP ERP customer, SAP CRM should be a natural choice. Because of the out-of-the-box integration feature, you need not put too much effort to integrate these two platforms. This is the single most important factor for considering SAP CRM. You can easily integrate the cloud CRM, as well as on-premises SAP CRM. It also has all the required and standard features of CRM functionality.

I would rate it an eight out of 10.
