I evaluated a product called Paessler. The major difference is in the support. For a product with many features like this, regional support is very important in order to configure it better and use it more appropriately.

Therefore, product team support is required, and that's not very good in Saudi Arabia for WhatsUp Gold, even though the product has all the capabilities. The time difference with the UK makes Paessler the best option. They have local support based in the region.

We did look at other HP options. We liked the ease of use and the interface as well as the price of WhatsUp, however.

We also considered PRTG and SolarWinds. I do not remember the report, but we came to the conclusion that WhatsUp Gold was the system for our position.

With the Ipswitch demonstration of WUG capability, we settled on this product, once we considered decommissioning Kiwi.

We have evaluated the module for the backup of the network configurations for the devices. We have other network monitoring tools also, such as PRTG Network Monitor and NetFlow Collector. In addition, we have the Prime software from Cisco for the AP monitoring.

We also use SolarWinds and Cisco Prime. We have found WhatsUp Gold to be generally good for events, monitoring, and alerting. Other products are better for detailed analyses. 

My understanding is that there are better products out there that do a better job.
