A setup with issues or an inexperienced engineer might take an hour.

The setup is a small set. Basically, we have branches near about 50 to 100 users using the solution. The L2 switches are installed in the access layer, and further, it is connected to our Citrix SD-WAN box, and Citrix SD-WAN terminates the appliance. So this is the setup. This is a small setup.

It will not take much time to deploy it. It can be done in five to ten minutes. One just needs to unbox Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches, terminate the power supply, and connect to the Citrix router.

Seven or eight of our resources, with one person as their leader, are involved in managing Citrix to look after the deployments and maintenance of Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches. Speaking about the rest of the resources and the organization structure we have, one person is involved in technical follow-up, and three are involved in the technical part.

Installation is very easy. We just pull the cable and then install the POA adapter. The access point is in the location, and we just enter the serial number and make the address in the cloud access in the black list, and we can control it everywhere.

The problem with installation is not the installation process, but the building. Sometimes our building has a high ceiling, so installation is hard. If we install in the high ceiling, we must provide a scaffolding for installation and it takes quite a long time.

We used the technician and admin for deployment and installation.

We had deployments that extended for more than four to five months, primarily due to their complexity. However, if you aim for a straightforward setup, with a good plan, you can have your Cisco configuration up and running within a week. This applies not just to one switch but to a group of switches. The key lies in thorough preparation, which can be time-consuming.Certainly, creating a well-thought-out deployment plan is crucial. It involves designing your entire network infrastructure, including switching configurations and learning requirements. The setup itself doesn't consume much time, but the preparation and planning are critical. This level of planning is typically necessary for any networking setup, not just specific to Cisco.

The solution's initial setup is straightforward. The time taken for deployment depends on the requirement. For an access switch, it takes a day. For a core switch, it may take a couple of hours.

The process includes submitting design documentation and a network implementation plan to the customers. After approval, we provide templates and configuration guidelines to them. Later, we conduct a network readiness test to ensure its successful implementation. It requires two technicians to execute the process for extensive networks.

The initial setup is very easy. We just follow the steps and handle the configuration. We also do any troubleshooting if there is any issue.

If the user wants another configuration, you adjust as needed.

It is not difficult to maintain the product at all. If there are any urgent issues, we're on top of it. We make sure we can fix network issues quickly, should they happen, in order to maintain the business.

I happen to have good SLAs for other problems and they cover things from the Cisco side.

The initial setup of the tool was easy.

On a scale of one to ten, where one is the worst and ten is the easiest, I rate my experience with the initial setup as a nine.

When deploying the switches, the basic steps involved getting the architecture done and then deploying it. It was a lengthy process and took around three to six months.

We did not require a lot of staff members or resources for the deployment process. Also, the tool does not require any specific maintenance.

The installation of Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is very easy. They are simpler to implement than other solutions.

With Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches I am able to direct the install software to be set up at a certain IP address to be done there. It has a good web interface when it comes to setting things up, you don't have to load needless software into your computer. Anything that requires you to load the software into your computer is one thing I turn away from because that's more resources taken from my computing platform. If I have to waste resources to control something that's supposed to be doing its own job, then what do I have it for.

Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches doesn't force me to do that. Some of the Netscape's are similar to that. Netscape's interface is not as easy to navigate because they keep changing the interface. From one appliance to the other, your interface is not uniform. I could go with the Linksys, and if I've done one, I can find my way through most any of the others.

It's a simple setup. Cisco is simple plug-and-play. Starting is easy. If you don't want any complexity, then you can simply opt for plug and play.

If you want more complexity or more security, that's still quite simple. They have spent so much time and expertise in education. Cisco education is everywhere. It makes it so that people are aware of Cisco Control and Cisco Command Line. Many users feel comfortable with it.

It is a little difficult to answer if it is straightforward or complex because some parts are easy and some parts are difficult. Also, it will not be possible for me to say first-hand, because when the deployment was going on, I was not here.

Nowadays everything is software-driven. Even network products are configured through NFS (Network File System). Because we have to configure each individual switch, which makes it more complex. Once you are on object-based storage like SDN, it becomes easy to manage things. Most of the time, it is manageability which is complex. It is not the product which is giving us any problems. Managing every little product one-at-a-time is difficult. With something like SDN, or these types of alternative management systems, we can manage all these things through a single software interface — a single pane of glass — that becomes easy.

Deployment time depends on the criticality of the location we are installing these boxes. For example, if it is a greenfield, it can take one or two days, and it is a capital location such as a data center it can take some time for measuring and configuration from the old networks to the new network, which would take two or three weeks.

We have a team of many experts who work here.

The deployment team is made up of an engineering team and a deployment team. Also, we have a rollout team for stacking and racking who are technicians.

The setup process or configuring access points include two types of devices. One of them is a wireless LAN controller, and the other is a stand alone device. Setting up an access point with WLC is simpler because the controller handles the configurations. On the other hand, standalone devices require more manual configuration.

Cisco products require some knowledge of it. Most of them are not plug-and-play. You will have to have some knowledge in configuring them, specific knowledge for them. They're good. However, for advanced setups, even advanced security and everything, it requires somebody knowledgeable in Cisco systems.

Deploying it took a more extended period to set everything up and running, compared to other products, compared, let's say, to other companies, for example, Tenda or Huawei. Compared to a Huawei switch, a Cisco switch will require to take some more time to do the configuration and everything. It took some time to get it perfectly running.

It doesn't require much to maintain. Once they are set up, maintaining them is very easy since they're quite reliable and stable. For us, two people for a company of 400 will handle the network perfectly. We have two network engineers for a company with 400 to 500 people, so that speaks to the stability of their products. They don't need to be micromanaged every now and then.

The installation was easy. There are many phases of the install process. First I had to prepare a configuration template in the workplace for the networking team. I can use this configuration template to deploy a lot of Linksys solutions. I know where, when, and how to lead these deployments to have a properly configured Cisco solution. If I have a configuration template it only takes approximately 30 minutes to load and configure the devices. At this point, the device needs to be taken to where it can be installed, this can take approximately 10 minutes. The length of time is dependant on the environment of the install. For example, what types of location is it being installed in and the complexity of cable wiring in each branch of the router.
