A solution that has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording."
  • "Microsoft Teams has a limitation on the number of people, which could be increased."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for normal SharePoint activity. We have offices in the US and some in India, and we do our regular team meetings on Microsoft Teams.

What is most valuable?

All basic features of Microsoft Teams are good enough. The solution has features like good voice clarity, good video quality, and recording. We can set up the Microsoft Team's settings within seconds, and connectivity is also good. We can connect with anybody, including our customers.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams has a limitation on the number of people, which could be increased. The voice quality sometimes is not good, but it could be because of internet issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for about a year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It could be because of internet issues, but the screen often freezes off. We have Microsoft Teams meetings at least thrice a week. Throughout some 10 to 20 meetings, the screen freezes off one or two times. Subsequently, leaving the meeting and coming back takes time.

I rate Microsoft Teams between eight and nine out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is good enough for us. We have never faced any issues with the solution's scalability. We use Microsoft Teams about three to four times a week. We use it every alternate day for about half an hour, two hours, or one and a half hours. We have never faced any issues, and even if it's a continuous three hours meeting, there's no stoppage in the service. Currently, 15 users are using Microsoft Teams in our organization, and we may scale up to about 30 to 35 users after some time.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use SharePoint from Microsoft. Earlier, we used to use Google Meet. Although Google Meet was free, it had a time limit of 45 minutes. We used to use another product from an Indian-based company with its own data center. It is a free VC software, but we stopped using it because of some teething issues.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is quite okay and very user-friendly.

What about the implementation team?

We are IT and system integrators ourselves. Although we're a small company, our organization has a technical team who does the deployment. We didn't have to take any assistance from outside.

My technical team remotely deployed Microsoft Teams. From a user perspective, if I had to connect or have a Microsoft Teams meeting with any of my vendors, customers, or internally, I know how to do it, and it's quite simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams is expensive compared to other solutions. We bought the entire suite of products, including Office, Outlook, and Teams.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is deployed on-cloud in our organization. Microsoft Teams is an expensive product. Since we are a micro and small mid sized company, we have to pay more cost. Big banks and big enterprise customers pay half the price of what we pay because their number of users is more. If the company is very big, the solution's cost reduces substantially.

Microsoft Teams is a very standard platform. Many of our customers are using Microsoft. Google is also quite good, and Google is much easier to use and user-friendly than Microsoft Teams.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams an eight or nine out of ten.

A well-rounded tool for internal communication with real-time file sharing capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to share files online in real time with Microsoft Teams."
  • "Sometimes Avaya is required for Teams to work well on phones."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for collaboration and internal communication in our organization. We also used it for online meetings and virtual webinars during COVID.

How has it helped my organization?

Its ability to streamline communications has helped. Teams can do chat, voice, and video calls as well. Sometimes, we require a lot of communication by email, and Microsoft Teams can also be used for that.

What is most valuable?

It is easy to share files online in real time with Microsoft Teams. We can have online meetings embedded with security to protect all our communication and conversations.

What needs improvement?

Since large organizations use Teams, it requires a stable bandwidth and hardware performance when we start the application. Moreover, it needs a stable bandwidth when we open the application on the phone, as we cannot communicate with Avaya properly. Sometimes Avaya is required for Teams to work well on phones.

Microsoft Teams requires web-friendly sign-up for calls.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Mircosoft Teams since 2019.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is stable as long as the connection is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are 160 users in our organization using Teams. We have hosted live events, and we have gotten more than 1,000 participants to join.

How are customer service and support?

We raised an issue last year where the team could not use Microsoft Teams. We opened a ticket with the support team. They responded and informed us they had a backend system problem. After that, it took a few hours, and it worked fine.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

Microsoft Teams is easy to set up, and there are no complexities. If you are using Office 365, you can download and install it. It automatically integrates with your account, so it has no problem. You can log into your account and download and install it on your own.

The solution is not difficult to maintain.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We tried Zoom as a guest but not the host. Webex is good because it is a Cisco product, and they have a team to support it from every angle. Both are better in terms of support, but I use Microsoft more than Webex.

What other advice do I have?

Webex and Zoom are better in terms of support, which we have only ever experienced when our customers face problems, and we have to contact support on their behalf.

I recommend Microsoft Teams, though, and I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to implement, great for group chats, and available on multiple devices
Pros and Cons
  • "Communication is really easy to handle."
  • "They need to improve the scalability of Teams."

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use live chat. The chat is used mostly to communicate with all departments in my company.

What is most valuable?

There is a good option for you to make group chats. Communication is really easy to handle. It’s easy to make groups and intimate chats when you need to.

It is a stable product.

The initial setup is easy.

What needs improvement?

It's a really good application, a good program. However, maybe the whole UI could change a bit in the future. After a while, it gets to be too much of the same in the eye of the customer. Maybe they need a column, or maybe a background, or something like that to mix things up.

They need to improve the scalability of Teams.

For how long have I used the solution?

I’ve been using the solution for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is not a problem. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn’t crash or freeze. It’s reliable, and the performance is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale. However, it could be better.

We have about 200 people using the solution right now at our organization.

How are customer service and support?

I’ve never had to reach out to support as I’ve never had any issues. It works well. I can’t say how the technical support is, however.

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation was actually not made by me. However, I saw the process and it's pretty straightforward. There was nothing that I saw that would lead me to believe it would be complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I’m not sure about the pricing. I’m not sure if we have to pay anything.

What other advice do I have?

I am a customer and an end-user.

I’m not sure which version of the solution I’m using right now.

I’d invite potential new users to use it or try it out. You can have access it from any device, and it’s great if you want to access data or information.

I would rate the solution nine out of ten. It’s great. However, the UI could be better, which is why I didn’t give it perfect marks.

Allows us to communicate internally across multiple locations and with our outside customers
Pros and Cons
  • "I think it has helped me organize my day-to-day activities. It has also helped me to align with the schedule of my colleagues and other partners because there's a feature where we can see the schedule of other Team members."
  • "There's a feature that can send a notification to Team's channel, but I think there's no way to have it escalated on something like that."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for communication internally and with our outside customers.

It is on cloud, and we are installing the desktop version on our workstations. There are also cases that we are using the cloud, the web edition, because you can login to your account from any workstation.

It is deployed across our whole organization, so we are multinational. Currently, I'm in the Philippines, but we also have our team members in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia. Everyone is using Teams, and we're communicating using Teams.

How has it helped my organization?

I think it has helped me organize my day-to-day activities. It has also helped me to align with the schedule of my colleagues and other partners because there's a feature where we can see the schedule of other Team members.

What is most valuable?

It is easy to send some calendar invites to have a research session with our customer.

What needs improvement?

There's a feature that can send a notification to the Team's channel, but I think there's no way to have it escalated.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution since December 2020.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable, but there have been times when I needed to login again, probably because of my internet connection.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have also used Viber, but it's not the best communication solution. We have also used ServiceNow for ticketing and Zoom.

How was the initial setup?

Setup was straightforward. You just need to sign in, and you can use it right away. Internally, we advised everyone to install Teams on their workstation after they received their service machines.

Everything took just a couple of minutes. You need to download a couple of megabytes and install it. Everything will be done in less than 30 minutes, including the sign in.

What about the implementation team?

It was done in-house. We did not have an indicated person for that. Everyone knows that they're using Teams and they install it by themselves. Most of the time, there is no help needed to install Teams.

What was our ROI?

From Teams alone, I think we are looking at it as the complete package, including the subscription of Microsoft Word and SharePoint. So overall, I think it is a good investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is affordable because it also includes the licenses on Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office and SharePoint. The subscription is already covered with the $10 per month subscription.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 9 out of 10.

The implementation is straightforward. You just need to validate Teams, and the product certificate is good for the company using it versus the other service operating from other providers. The solution is good.

Microsoft Teams for Scrum during the Pandemic
Pros and Cons
  • "The communication part has been excellent so far."
  • "On rare occasions, it freezes and some people will lose sound or they could lose video."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of this solution is for communications.

How has it helped my organization?

In regards to COVID and the Pandemic, we would not be able to do our regular job without this mechanism in place.

We do our regular scrum meetings using Microsoft Teams.

We have meetings with the entire company every week. There are hundreds of people connected and it works perfectly in terms of linking people together, showing some content, and showing some slides.

What is most valuable?

I am not familiar with all of the features yet, but some of the features I find to be most valuable are the visual conference call. We all see our videos as well as audios.

The quality is much better than it is with Skype.

There is more clarity and everything is crisper.

We have not been using the collaboration part as much, as we are focusing on the communications rather than document sharing.

The communication part has been excellent so far.

What needs improvement?

While we are still familiarizing ourselves with the features, although I would say that there could be some improvements with some additional stability. For some who connect, and do not have a good connection from home or the internet is not as good, it needs a bit more stability.

On rare occasions, it freezes and some people will lose sound or they could lose video. It needs better handling.

It needs to be more robust in terms of stability.

It's still a fairly new product, so they may still improve this a little.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for a few days.

We are using the Teams business version, which is the one that is offered with the 365 premium package.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are some issues with stability and it could be improved.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are using Skype Enterprise but in two or three months, Skype is going to be decommissioned for us. The IT department has been using Microsoft Teams.

How was the initial setup?

We have a local client installed. The software is installed on our desktop and updated to the most recent version whenever it's available.

The initial setup is simple, but if you are a government agency, you have to make it more secure and more robust.

There are additional purchases necessary to secure it in a government agency where you don't want to share a document or expose documents that may be private.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If you have content that requires more security and you want to use it in a more secure manner, with more protection, then it will come at a higher cost. You have to set your environment up with additional features, such as multifactor authentication and identity protection, which are not available in the basic plan. Instead, they can be purchased additionally from Microsoft.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody interested in Microsoft Teams is that it's a good product and they should hire some consulting services that are specialists if they are serious about implementing it the correct way.

At this time, Microsoft Team fulfills everything we need.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Enhances productivity and teamwork with its seamless integration with other Microsoft applications, efficient communication, easy file sharing and storage, and effective team organization
Pros and Cons
  • "One of the most valuable aspects is the ability to record sessions on Teams, which is a beneficial feature."
  • "At times, we encounter difficulties with remote access through Teams, which requires improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for daily or scheduled meetings.

How has it helped my organization?

Teams enhances collaboration within our team and with our customers. While we've had positive experiences overall, one issue we've encountered is inconsistent remote access through Teams. However, for field meetings and estimations, it functions effectively.

The video conferencing capability has significantly enhanced our remote meetings, making them more productive. It allows people from different locations to convene at a central point, enabling seamless sharing of views, solutions, and discussions without the need for physical travel. This efficient communication method enables us to address various matters and reach solutions in minimal time.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable aspects is the ability to record sessions on Teams, which is a beneficial feature. It allows for reviewing meetings afterward, ensuring that any missed details can be revisited and understood, contributing to better meeting outcomes.

The most valuable feature for our team's productivity in Teams is remote access, particularly because many of our clients are located remotely. This feature allows us to efficiently address issues without the need to travel to other countries or regions. Instead, we can initiate remote sessions through Teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly, enhancing our ability to provide support regardless of geographical barriers.

What needs improvement?

At times, we encounter difficulties with remote access through Teams, which requires improvement. Access to the target server may not always function correctly when accessed remotely.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with it for last three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It provides good stability capabilities. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is contingent upon the projects at hand. As projects expand, so does the team size. This scalability is influenced by the number of global projects and remote sites. Additionally, it correlates with the client base; as clients increase, more personnel are required to support them. We have a team of two to three individuals, but as our business grows and client numbers increase, we will accordingly augment our team size to accommodate the expansion. I would rate it eight out of ten.

Our marketing team frequently utilizes this tool, often engaging with clients on a daily basis through multiple meetings. In contrast, our technical team typically uses it for work approximately three times a week.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously utilized Zoom, but frequent interruptions and disconnections prompted us to transition to Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process is straightforward, requiring only a few simple steps. Setting up Teams and scheduling meetings can be easily done with minimal effort. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment time may range from one to three months. Our deployment process involves setting up database, application, and web servers. However, we're currently facing a challenge as the Network Access Control service is unavailable on any cloud platform. Our solution relies on NAC for initial authentication, followed by communication with middleware before completing the cycle. Due to the absence of NAC on cloud platforms, we're exploring alternatives. Suggestions have been made to run the NAC function on-premises and then deploy the solution on the cloud. However, management is hesitant until a cloud-based NAC solution is available. This delay has stalled the project's progress despite initial work starting six months ago.

We've deployed the project with our in-house technical team, not relying on third-party assistance. Multiple teams were involved in the deployment process, including the development team and PMO team. Each team member played a crucial role, with approximately five to ten individuals participating in each deployment phase. Two people are sufficient for maintenance.

What was our ROI?

The ROI we've observed primarily stems from the significant time savings achieved through Teams. I would rate it nine out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is relatively high. I would rate it eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

We consistently advise our clients to utilize Teams. Although some clients may request Zoom meetings, we promptly suggest using Teams for its reliability and seamless connectivity. Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Enhances workplace communications and adds new features almost daily
Pros and Cons
  • "It is an excellent all-around communications tool that works well for business purposes."
  • "It may be a little daunting to learn and is still a tool in development."

What is our primary use case?

I think we're use Microsoft Teams for almost everything when it comes to communications. When I call my colleagues, I no longer using the phone. Because I use Teams so much, I picked up the phone the other day and it was strange — It was like it was the first time I picked up the phone. I use Teams as a phone. Even on my smartphone, I call people using Teams.

We're using Teams to call people to set meetings, record meetings, share documents — all communication now goes through Teams. We create groups to share our documents and update them live. It is really very practical and collaborative.

How has it helped my organization?

It is improving our means of communication and I think in the future will encourage users to communicate better because it is fun to use and powerful.

What is most valuable?

The features that I like the most are the features we have now. I like every aspect of it. It is easy to use. It's on your phone, so it is mobile. You can respond without answering if you have a call or message. You can send emoticons so people know you have gotten their message. This type of response is very quick and doesn't leave the other party waiting. Those features are just like what you might do in WhatsApp or Messenger on Facebook. It is very familiar to anyone using those products.

One thing that we are looking to deploy — and we are testing it now — is to send and track kudos. We want to implement this new feature on a worldwide basis to thank team members for being good participants.

What needs improvement?

We work directly with Microsoft to provide feedback on the product and what we would like to see as improvements. I discover a new feature every day, so they're really working to develop it very quickly.

I would like also to have a feature where we create a worldwide group to act as a social media hub. The difference between that and groups is that it would be separate from all the other groups. I don't want it included in my Teams because I will use it in a different way. I can see the activity of other teams or individuals who are not on my teams. Because I'm using the product extensively and have many teams, I think it is an important addition to be able to organize groups in different ways — and I have put in that request with IS.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for a couple of years exclusively.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've heard some people complain and say, "Oh it's not working with me," but I never had any issue with Teams. I use it all the time and it is stable. It opens immediately when I open my computer, it's on my phone and it sends me notifications.

I have calls with people on it. Sometimes I even record video calls. The only time I have had any issues is when the network is not working well — maybe in high load times — but this happens with every means of communication like WhatsApp or other solutions that depend on the network. It isn't a problem with the package it is a problem with the network.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our company has about 14,000 employees, but we are not all using the intranet. We are an industrial company and we have people working in manufacturing and they don't have access to computers all the time.

As far as scalability, we would like to have the ability to use the product off-site. That is, we want to be able to have remote people use Teams with us internally. This is the only thing I've heard that's posing a problem with scaling.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not directly had any experience with the Microsoft technical support team for Teams because we have an IS (Internet Services) group. If we open a ticket, the IS department is the group who will contact support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before we tried using Teams, we were using Skype. Now we are only using Teams because it is a more complete and business-oriented tool.

How was the initial setup?

I was not directly involved in the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

Our implementation was done by our own IS team.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to people who are considering this solution is that you have to be patient at the beginning. People might think it is too complicated or that it looks too complicated at the beginning. As a first time user, I remember feeling like I didn't understand anything. You have to be patient and play around with it until you become familiar with the different features. For example, there are channels within a group. If you are added to several groups and you start getting alerts, you may not know which channel it is or which group. It is a lot for a first time user to digest. It is not as straightforward as WhatsApp when it comes to groups.

What we have seen is that when we communicate our requests to Microsoft, we are getting back responses with the features we have asked for. There are many features that we request and we discover they are available in just a few days. Either many companies are making the same requests or Microsoft is answering our request, but the product is evolving quickly.

On a scale from one to ten, when one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Microsoft Teams as an eight. While I like the product a lot and I use it all the time, there is room for improvement.
