Code42 Incydr Stability

Chuck_Mackey - PeerSpot reviewer
Director, Cybersecurity Consulting at a tech services company with 51-200 employees

We didn't have any issues. We bolstered our network incredibly. There is a lot of stuff running through our pipes. So, we now have a pretty strong network. We didn't initially, but we now have a really strong network and pipe environment. I don't really see any problem with it. The only problems we have are not related to Code42. They're related to the fact that we have to make sure that, at times, the people who work from home leave their technology available for us to do updates, to do scans, and things like that, but that's not a Code42 issue. That's more of an internal issue.

Generally speaking, no. Both the server back-end and the client side are very stable. I think that it speaks a lot to Code42's commitment to quality engineering.

On a rare occasion, the backup agent on a client machine would need to be stopped, removed, and re-installed. This has only happened on the OS X platform.

We had to tweak settings for storage servers always reporting offline due to slow responses to ping requests by the central server. Version upgrades have been a challenge for us due to our environment.

Clients will from time-to-time have difficulty connecting to our backup server. This tends to be an issue with the client after an update has been pushed; never difficult to fix, but something to keep an eye on.

I have not encountered any stability issues. The only issue we really had was with the initial server setup. We were required to put it on Windows Server 2012 and I had to re-image the storage appliance that came with Storage Server 2012 from Microsoft but was not supported. It might have worked anyway; however, it was not officially supported. Rather than fight with Code42 if we had an issue, we thought it was better to rework the storage appliance OS installation and keep our fingers crossed.

We had one server that has tendency to make the client stop, but usually fixes itself if you give it a few hours. This server also has a lot of changes to the files being backed up, so that could be the issue.

With Kaspersky AntiVirus on Windows we had one recurring issue that it started crashing the app, I actually try to exclude it and it keeps crashing until we reinstall the application. The think is we reinstall and it takes some months until it crashed again but is an old version of CrashPlan maybe when we do the upgrade that issue will be resolved.

Yes, we encountered an issue with the datastore implementation.

We where using net share backup repository for the CrashPlan Pro-e server, which was an implementation not supported by Crashplan. In this case a lot of computers culd not backup their files.

But beside this (our fault) never encountered real issues in stability.
