I think the product's interface is an area of concern since it has been changed for a long time and can be considered for improvement.

With the UI, Dropbox could also push up on some updates, like how Google does with Google Docs, as it would be quite interesting to see something like that.

A room for improvement in Dropbox is document editing. It would be nice to have the functionality of editing the document with other people at the same time. This is something that can be done on Office 365, and it's a feature I'd like to see in the next release of Dropbox.

Microsoft OneDrive offers one terabyte of free storage with its Microsoft 365 Family plan. I primarily use it to store my most recent, critical files, such as project documentation and similar items, but the bulk is stored on OneDrive due to its free storage plan. Dropbox's limited storage capacity has compelled me to rely heavily on OneDrive. Dropbox can effectively compete with Microsoft regarding storage capacity. There could be flexibility in terms of pricing.

In terms of the limitations, I see that if you use a mobile device that does not allow you to properly configure the email part with Dropbox, then you cannot access it. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the product.

I want to be able to upload certain configurations or setup files, like .exe files, on Dropbox. Sometimes, .exe files take time to get uploaded, or it doesn't get uploaded at all.

One aspect that I believe could be enhanced is the family sharing feature. Currently, it permits up to five users, but for larger families, it would be beneficial to have a more flexible offering. It would be valuable if it offered an archival service that allows users to transfer active mailbox data into long-term storage. Such a feature would be beneficial for archiving and preserving data over extended periods.

The arrangement of documents can be simplified. Personally, I am used to it, but for a new user, it might be a little confusing. It can maybe have a feature to allow people to collaborate or work on the same document at the same time.

I'm just using it to load and access information, and I haven't faced many challenges. However, I have seen that the whole system or laptop slows down a bit when I am synchronizing files to Dropbox. I don't know if it is because of my system. It might be good if they can enhance the synchronization process so that we can specify that synchronization should be done after 30 minutes. In addition, synchronization should only be done for the documents that have been uploaded.

The solution allows one only a certain amount of free storage, but he must pay for a subscription, perhaps on a six-month basis, if he wishes to maintain this. While I feel the price being charged to be reasonable, it should either be more cost-effective or account for an increased amount of storage space.

The drawback to this product is the cost. When you use other solutions such as Google Drive or Microsoft, their office suite is accessible and integrated with other things. When it comes to the type of software that is available, Microsoft is attractive because it comes in a bundle. It is easier to maintain rather than having separate subscriptions for it.

If Dropbox or Google Drive could have the same software and bundle as Microsoft, then that would be great.

I would like to see integration with Office products, it would be very helpful.

I think Google Drive shows the log of the file better than Dropbox and its installation and use are easier than Dropbox.

Dropbox is a little bit complex and it could be that someone would have a hard time using it. For example, I am a computer engineer so it's easy for me to install a software and solve a problem, for example, the installation process. But maybe somebody would not be able to do it. I think Dropbox could make the installation and the log of what has changed in a file easier. Showing logs could be more accessible.

File version control can be improved. It generates a lot of conflicts when people are working on the same file. When working simultaneously in the same file, a conflict tends to be generate when both save the file. This is solved by replacing with the latest version but is not automatic.

Its integration with other solutions can be improved in terms of user experience. Integration is there, and it has connectors for Excel, Word, and other solutions, but it is not very friendly. There should be a better user experience. The open a excel file using the offlien application you must access the file directly on the folder, so you can't jump from DropBox portal online version to the offline version of the app.

The file storage space between a business account and a personal account is not compatible. For example, if a person has a business account and has storage of one terabyte where he stores files into, and I have a personal account with only ten gigabytes available for me to view, then all of the files are stored in my team member's business account. Once I have reached the ten gigabytes of storage, I am not able to synchronize any data even though my teammate, who has one terabyte of storage, is where the files are stored.

The problem with the storage is that you are only able to synchronize the information within the amount of storage that you have. It doesn't matter if you are accessing from a team member who has more storage, the limitations are with your storage.

This is a problem that I am facing. If I withhold my storage and someone shares a file with me, I will not be able to synchronize locally because I personally do not have enough storage.

Shared folders count against your total storage space. So I have had to delete multiple libraries in order to receive a share.

Finding and sharing links to files and libraries are often a pain to find and manage.

Dealing with permissions are an issue. Sometimes we need to find a person's email address. Some people use three to four different emails. Someone added me to a library via email, but later when needing to send me an email, they couldn't find it. Dropbox would not give them my email address, the one they had to submit in the first place to add me to the list.

Shared folders from other people don't count against your total size.

Personal address book so when we add someone, they're information is saved so we can lat a later time email them or add the person to another share.

Larger storage allocations as two GB is eaten up quite fast with sharing of pictures, video and files.

Lower price range. The cost for gain is just not lined up with other business offerings.

A much easier to navigate web interface. Sharing a file should be as easy as sharing a YouTube video. Finding that link is not always so simple.

- Starts you out at 2GB, which is paltry compared to most other offerings. - There is a cap to the amount you can increase to on a free plan. While I admit that the privacy issues that came up a while back (six months to a year ago) gave me cause for concern, Dropbox rectified the issue in their EULA and were extremely transparent with their customer base, which I believe is an excellent business practice. It would be great to be able to have multiple files open within Dropbox without having to leave the file I'm currently using.

The search could be made more intuitive. Right now, the search function works in a way that is very similar to the way it works on a laptop. Where you'll have a folder within a folder, etc. It would be a lot more intuitive if I could directly put in my link and restore destination rather than sharing the address of that folder.

It would be good if Dropbox could account for grammatical errors as well in the search function. For example, if there is a mistake in the spelling I have put in, it should suggest a destination.

A better data reviver would also be great.

There have been a few privacy and security issues that have soured me a bit on dropbox over the last year or so. First, there was the admission that dropbox was analyzing each file uploaded to see if there was already a version on their servers. If there was, they were linking my file to the original file, rather than storing multiple versions of files across users. Later, there was an error in a code update that allowed all dropbox accounts to be accessed without passwords for a number of hours. There have been many criticisms over the type of encryption that DropBox uses as well. If you are backing up your companies data to a cloud storage solution you have to be sure that you agree with their policies for encryption. DropBox might not meet your criteria. View full review »

Dropbox could introduce some sort of a notification with respect to how much storage you have left out of what is purchased. We are moving to Microsoft Teams. Instead of Dropbox, we will be using Microsoft Teams that has the advantage of saving the versions. It supports file versioning so that you can always go back to the previous version if you want to. If somebody has made a change in one of the files and you don't know what changes have been made, you can always go back to the previous version. This feature led us to migrate to Microsoft Teams.

With Dropbox, there is no option for simultaneous work. This feature is there in Google Files. In Microsoft Teams, you can invite team members to collaborate. That is the reason why I prefer Microsoft Teams over Dropbox. It should also have more integration with other solutions.
