RSA Aveksa [EOL] Review

Easy connections to most of the common applications but some crucial adapters are missing

Valuable Features:

  1. Easy connections (many out of the box adapters) to most of the common applications (data stores)
  2. Adapters are used for both the collection of identity and access data and the provisioning of accounts, roles and rights
  3. IMG includes Role-Mining features to assist in processing non-role based access rights
  4. IMG also includes SOD functions used to define GRC rules across applications.

Improvements to My Organization:

After IMG most of the tasks happen automatically, but also offer manual provisioning from a single GUI for all applications.

IMG also comes with a simple GUI for business users to request access rights to different applications, triggering a predefined authorization work-flow to approve their request.

Room for Improvement:

There are some crucial adapters missing for SAP CUA and for some Legacy applications.

Cost and Licensing Advice:

First one is the cost an initial process of mapping applications and access rights structure in each application. It's recommended to perform this process with each application owner in one-on-one meetings.

Second cost, that is not always taken into consideration is the fact that day after the implementation you''ll need someone to manage the system, and be responsible for day to day maintenance.

Other Advice:

Walk through all the crucial stages with a 3rd party expert.

  • Project Initiation
  • Defining stake holders, objectives, scope & capacity
  • HLD
  • Interface architecture
  • Budget
  • Schedule
  • Business partners
  • Technical partners
  • Make sure the project has a relevant Business Owner.

Hi Tommy,
The support of SAP CUA and also SAP IDM is possible with the existing SAP AFX connector.
We've implemented this solution for a customer in Germany and they have now the capability to change every field in any table of SAP.
Our main problem have been SAP BAPIs, which didn't work correctly.
Though we were forced to correct the BAPI Code before the provisioning was working well.
Now the customer is extremely happy with the IMG solution and is saving effort and costs.
He has addressed the BAPI problems to SAP support!

Don't hesitate to contact me for further details.
