What is most valuable?

The high availability of the service is a valuable feature. We use the HA version to run two instances. That way there is no downtime for our services when we do any… more»

How has it helped my organization?

It's helped us to dive into the cloud very fast. We didn't have to change any automations which we already had. We didn't have to change any processes we already had. We… more»

What needs improvement?

Scale-up and scale-out could be improved. It would be interesting to have multiple HA pairs on one cluster, for example, or to increase the single instances more, from a… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The standard pricing is online. Pricing depends. If you're using the PayGo model, then it's just the normal costs on the Microsoft page. If you're using Bring Your Own… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We only used native Azure services. We went with Cloud Volumes ONTAP because it was a natural extension of our NetApp products. We have a huge on-premise storage… more»

What other advice do I have?

Don't be afraid of granting permissions because that's one of the most complex parts, but that's Azure. As soon as you've done that, it's easy and straightforward. When… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have a single-vendor strategy.

What is most valuable?

It was designed from the ground up to work together. It’s not disparate technologies that the vendors put together and decided, “These can work together.” It was designed from the ground up to work… more»

How has it helped my organization?

It significantly reduces downtime on two of our assembly lines. In addition, it allowed us to move forward on one of the products that we’re going to use to improve as a company, to potentially allow… more»

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see some additional graphics capabilities because I'd like to look at some virtual desktop integration for CAD software.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

In the first use case, we weren't getting the performance we needed from the old solution. In the second use case, I had an aging infrastructure that I knew I needed to replace. It was simply finding… more»

What other advice do I have?

Definitely, have a look at this solution. It is simple, and I don't mean "simple" in a negative way. If you're not a company with a staff of hundreds, and most IT departments don't, you need something… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Cisco and Nutanix were the other big ones that we looked at. The reason we didn't go with Cisco, to be honest, was that they made it clear they didn't think a company of our size warranted their… more»

What is most valuable?

The ease of access and management from both storage and backup being all in one area, where it integrates with SnapVault and other features with NetApp. However, this is not the case for databases… more»

How has it helped my organization?

It's all together managing both storage and backup, which makes it easier for troubleshooting issues and the automation part of it. SnapCenter is the one that's making it possible to make everything… more»

What needs improvement?

For OnCommand Insight, they could do cloud-based stuff as well. It would be nice if they could integrate everything inside, so it would be easier for management: One tool used for everything. I want… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

For ERP SAP, we were using a Dell EMC solution previously, but a few things changed from the application teams perspective on what they needs were. So, this drove us to think about other solutions and… more»

What other advice do I have?

Gather the requirements and see what your application team needs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We only looked at Dell EMC and NetApp. The ease of access, then cost, were the factors in choosing NetApp.

What is most valuable?

The user experience has been absolutely amazing. We're about 80% virtualized on the desktop standpoint, so we do utilize VDI very highly. Using the All-Flash FAS solution, we had to basically determine that there was going to be some… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Everyone looks at health care because health care has been an amazing organization to be in. We're seeing the transformation of how we're becoming a digital company. Every organization is becoming a digital company, and we're starting to… more»

What needs improvement?

Considering that NetApp has health care view and that really strong health care initiative, they really need to consider what they need to do next to improve better data sharing and to make sure that the information that we are sharing with… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The total cost of ownership has increased a little. When I look at building very strong, good strategies that get presented to the board of directors and the additional executive teams, I look at two things: I look at ROI and I look at… more»

What other advice do I have?

I am part of the NetApp A-Team. I've been a huge advocate towards NetApp. I would say that nothing is perfect, but NetApp is leading the way when it comes to digital transformation and digital efficiencies as well. Their focus towards… more»

What is most valuable?

We like SnapMirror and we've been using it for many years. We also like the object storage tools, as well as cloud sync for customers wanting to integrate between the cloud and local.

What needs improvement?

I'm pretty happy with the product altogether. I'm pretty much a fan of the product. I think we've started to move more and more into Kubernetes and I think that's an area where we start to grow more I think. Probably the engineering guys would know more than I would what could be improved. From my perspective, I'm happy with the solutions as is. As I said, we'll start getting more and more into… more»

What other advice do I have?

The best thing to do is to make sure that you understand exactly what outcome you're looking for because there's quite a wide range of technologies with NetApp. I believe they cater to all of the different environments, but you need to make sure that you build the solution according to the applications and outcome that you're looking for. I'd rate it as ten of ten, from my perspective.
