What is most valuable?

* Single click actions is definitely the most important. They were not even aware that they wanted this. * Performance was the main point for buying it. * No… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Any task with our servers which is painless because the system runs really fast. Our users are glad to be migrated to Citrix, although giving up the local admin rights… more»

What needs improvement?

There are various areas, but all points that I could mention are under development and get to you free of charge with another single-click cluster-upgrade. To name some… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Setup cost is minor, pricing is quite a bit (we have a 7-node-cluster for about 450K EUR with 2 vGPU-nodes for Citrix) but that includes hardware, software, and support. I… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Traditional storage on NetApp with ESX-Blades from Dell. We switched because of the simpler setup and easier scalability.

What other advice do I have?

Always check compatibility matrix before you upgrade to get a clear view what comes after your upgrade. I recently found that AOS 5.1.4 and 5.1.5 will not let you upgrade… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated the successor models of our former systems. New NetApp Filers and new Blades, but the pricing was similar so we went with the better solution. We never used… more»

What is most valuable?

* Availability * Scalability * Performance * Redundancy * Excellent Monitoring and Admin Portal

How has it helped my organization?

We increased stability and availability to 99.999%, and increased performance on our software platforms and databases drastically.

What needs improvement?

There is a hard coded IP in the 192.168.5.x range which comes with Nutanix. This needs to be a variable, not hard coded, as this may clash with customers current IP range.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Even though Nutanix is expensive, it is well worth it!

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Xen.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, we did look at your traditional hyper-converged solutions.

What do you think of Nutanix?

Nutanix has helped us with a system that has high performance in a small footprint. It has been very easy to use and is very reliable. Using AHV looks good, and is a much cheaper alternative to VMware. There were initially some setup complications with Nutanix on Dell hardware by not having Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) open locally on the network switches. The simple hour install was closer to a day, but the system has been solid since then.

What is most valuable?

How has it helped my organization?

We can deploy VM as a service & we can perform updates on the nodes without downtime in a very simple, direct way.

What needs improvement?

The improvement needed is for elastic clusters, meaning the ability to depart and join nodes in an automatic way. We have a laboratory that needs to perform bare metal tests and therefore needs to… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using central storage and suffered from bad performance latency.

What other advice do I have?

Perform resizing. Check the needs and deploy only what is needed. Check the memory DIMMs and make sure for the price you get, you have free DIMMs. We Added a dedicated switch for this cluster so that… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?
