What do you think of Veritas Backup Exec?

Improvements to My Organization It just gave us the ability to have valid backups most of the time. • Valuable Features The interface easy to use and it is compatible with most backup devices. • Room for Improvement Ability to backup to cloud Virtualization backups availability More stable environment in a WAN infrastructure • Stability Issues There were issues with stability, such as big issues/error messages when trying to restore SQL instances, Exchange datastores, or single files • Scalability Issues In terms of scalability, if you get rid of a server that belongs to the CASO, the catalogs won´t work. What do you think of Veeam Backup & Replication?

Valuable Features: VM backup and ease of use are the most valuable features. • Improvements to My Organization: It helps the discovery of the new VM. It allows me to use the same tools when we decided to move from VMware to Hyper-V. • Room for Improvement: The physical system support needs improvement. I know that the latest version has this feature, but it was too late as I am already using it for three years. Its most valuable feature is probably the variety of features it has. You have the ability to perform a lot of actions with a single software solution. Specific features that I could not do without are SLPs for replication and duplication... more»

How has it helped my organization?

Our only other frame of reference is switching from BE to NBU. We got more advanced control of backups and restores by switching to a full-fledged enterprise solution.

What needs improvement?

The code base in general could use an overhaul. The base of the product is very old. It gets a lot of new features, but improvements in basic functionality are often sacrificed for a shiny new bullet point to put on sales presentations. It is... more»
