Archive verses backup

Currently using Avamar/Data Domain for backups. Looking for an Archive solution to accommodate long term retention requirements.

Any recommendations regarding archive solutions to look at?

Avamar supports Extended Retention Media Access nodes -- A Media Access node exports backup data from an Avamar server to a tape library (physical or virtual) for long-term retention purposes. It has an HBA port that allows a tape device to be connected directly to the node via fiber-optic
cable. It is not part of an ADS Gen4S server (not connected to the Avamar system’s internal
network).

Happy to help but need to know quite a lot more to be able to help properly.

Can you tell me more about what you want to achieve and why, how long is long term, for compliance, cultural or commercial reasons?

What kinds of files are being held, what is the growth rate and more importantly what are the access patterns.

If you can give me some response to this I can work out in which way to take my next questions in order to be able to give some real value.
