It is important to establish beforehand what you are going to use because you need to pay for the license based on your subscription. It is a very good product. We have a good experience in using this product. I would rate Cohesity DataProtect a nine out of ten.

Overall, it's a good product when it works — don't hesitate to go with it, just make sure you get a good implementation engineer from Cohesity that can answer all your questions. Be sure to ask questions every step of the way. They also have a pretty decent training program; I've gone through a few of their training courses and those are useful. Definitely, I would recommend that anybody that's putting it in for the first time, definitely attend a couple of their all-day, six to eight-hour-long courses, and take some of their administrator-type courses. Overall, once we worked through some of the problems we had, it's been pretty good. Not counting the tech support who I rate low, but the overall product, on a scale from one to ten, I would give Cohesity a rating of eight out of ten.

As is the case with any product, I recommend running a proof of concept before fully implementing it. This will help you to make sure that it fits the requirements. In the proof of concept, you can test everything you want. Examples include SQL, Exchange, and File Backup. You should also test the replication between nodes.

If you're on the fence about moving to Cohesity, I suggest making the jump. We have been amazed at what we've been able to accomplish with it in such a short time.

My advice is to set up a Proof of Concept with Cohesity. They are more than accommodating and basically treat you like a licensed customer. Any issues you do encounter get fixed during a PoC, so make sure to document them well because it makes the production implementation of Cohesity dead simple. Just try it ... and be prepared to like it. Make sure to have a set list of scenarios to test.

Cohesity can replicate backups to a secondary cluster (also virtual edition).

We have been very happy with Cohesity and it has solved several major problems for us. At the same time, they are aggressively adding and further refining features. We are now backing up our O365 email via Cohesity, which is something we didn't even know it could do when we purchased it. They really are developing a great platform for unstructured data and backups.

Cohesity's elastic search gives it a leg up on Rubrik.

Officially, we do plan to implement this solution one day. We're new enough to the system, and we are excited about it enough that we are still in the 'Honeymoon' phase. With respect to legacy support, we don't have funds to stay up to date with a lot of leading things. There is also a mentality of 'if it is not broken, do not fix it' with systems that we are working to overcome. This almost made it a deal-breaker for us, but Cohesity came to rescue with support for our versions.

To me, the Cohesity Cluster solution is almost complete. There are only minor things that I would like to see added to the user interface.

I would say that Cohesity seems like they are a very forward looking company. They are adding features with each release and seem to be investing heavily in extending their product. I feel like we will get good value out of our investment.

Cohesity offers the possibility to do a free POC, so if you have any doubt, try it, and I am sure you will see a lot of their advantages.
