The total ranking of a product, represented by the bar length, is based on a weighted aggregate score. For Views, Comparisons, Reviews, and Followers the score is calculated as follows: The product with the highest count in each area gets the highest available score of 17.5 points. Every other product gets assigned points based on its total in proportion to the #1 product in that area. For example, if a product has 80% of the number of reviews compared to the product with the most reviews then the product's score for reviews would be 17.5% (weighting factor) * 80% = 14. For Average Rating, the maximum score is 30 points awarded linearly based on our rating scale of 1-10. If a product has fewer than ten reviews, the point contribution for Average Rating is reduced (one-third reduction in points for products with 5-9 reviews; two-thirds reduction for products with fewer than five reviews). Reviews that are more than 24 months old, as well as those written by resellers, are completely excluded from the ranking algorithm.

What do you think of SharePoint?

SharePoint is appreciated for its simplicity of use out-of-the-box, though derided for problems (and the expenses) customizing the user experience (design, navigation and information architecture). SharePoint is replete with functionality and applications, and is the most comprehensive intranet development platform on the market. It is, unfortunately, expensive, and most of the feature set that we use, and that our clients use, fall short of expectations, and often below best-of-breed. SharePoint 2013 isn’t a niche product that is supposed to be superb at web content management, or social networking; it’s a broad solution, one that has something for everybody; a solution that can please some, but not all. However, SharePoint 2013 was much improved over its predecessor, but left...

What do you think of SharePoint?

SharePoint has conquered the enterprise intranet. Although the conquest is never as bloody nor expensive as more invasive conquests, such as the Mongols under Genghis Khan, intranet citizens are not always thrilled by the new system and structure under Gates Khan. SharePoint is present in 80% of the Fortune 100; and plays a prominent intranet role in about 70% of knowledge worker intranets (either powering the main intranet portal, or delivering associated collaboration sites and/or document repositories). This in spite of its history. SharePoint 2007 was a dog; SharePoint 2010 was a dressed-up dog; but the latest, SharePoint 2013 represents a considerable improvement compared to its canine predecessors. The SharePoint 2013 Intranet Home Page @ Prescient...

What do you think of SharePoint?

SharePoint 2016 was released in the Spring of 2016, and builds from many of the features already introduced in Office 365. Though SharePoint 2016 does have new features, most of the features are behind the scenes, from the administrative perspective. Much of the user experience, social, and content management experience is untouched (as is the ribbon), with some exceptions. Among the new features: Delve / My Profile (About Me) - My Sites disappears in favor of a new profile, About Me, that also uses the Delve inference engine. Cloud / Hybrid - Hybrid enables you to integrate your on-premises farm with the cloud, at your own pace. Durable Links - Resource-based URLs now retain links when documents are renamed or moved in SharePoint. Image and video previews - Preview images...

What do you think of SharePoint?

We have used SharePoint for more than eight years. In the 10+ years of being in traditional IT, I have never once heard of a happy customer of SharePoint, only happy contractors and IT personnel who feel safe in their jobs because SharePoint never quite works. I’ve even tried to find a happy customer. I couldn’t.  This is probably harsh criticism to some readers, but in my honest view, SharePoint is a system that only really works for IT departments and the contractors who develop SharePoint, because the solution is folded into the existing enterprise agreements. It’s free because it wouldn’t have value on its own. There are no happy customers of SharePoint, only happy contractors. Let’s talk UX. Employees today have little time for systems that don’t address their needs. If a...

DocuSign has been a great product for our institutions and our students/customers. We have been very pleased with the ease-of-implementation and the rapid adoption by our students, as well as our internal colleagues. No one wants to deal with paper anymore, and the fact that DocuSign works on almost all platforms, including mobile, has made this an ideal situation to replace our remaining paper processes. The integration of DocuSign with salesforce.com has been simple and straightforward. salesforce.com integration was a differentiator for us, because some of the other e-signature products did not integrate as tightly and as fully into the salesforce.com environment. We also were able to easily integrate DocuSign with our on-premise imaging platform to have signed documents...
