What do you think of Tricentis Tosca?

Overall, it is quite a different experience in using it. It does not contain any code, and builds from the requirements as a model of what the actual application will contain. The catch being that initially you do not need to define your test cases from the application end and things might not even be in sequence of what the actual final application would look like. I have an analogy for this – a human body is composed of head, body, hands and legs. Each one has its own “attributes”, which in turn have “instances”. This is what is called the ‘Model-based approach’. Each hand will have attributes such as fingers, nails, elbow, fore-hand, wrist, etc. Then, all these attributes will have instances – long fingers, short fingers, thick fingers, etc. Now to build a body, you need to...

What do you think of Ranorex?

Valuable Features Spy CodeModule XPath • Improvements to My Organization Automation coverage overnight is very useful. Compared to Selenium, Ranorex has a very small learning curve, so most of the technical QA people can start development with it right away. • Room for Improvement They need to have modularity (running concurrently different parts of the tests on different environments and reporting back to centralized run centre). Currently we are implementing this functionality via code, but feature should give a lot of advantages. • Use of Solution I've used it for three years. • Scalability Issues The scalability is limited to one process. You cannot have multiple reports combined together automatically, because each run is independent. • Customer Service and...

How has it helped my organization?

It has saved hours of manual testing time, costs and efforts. It's pretty much the best tool that has a repository of all the execution status, apps and information, which can be available in any part of the world.

What needs improvement?

Ability to use/automate Windows/iOS/Linux environment would be a great feature to add in cloud. Increasing local deployment of cloud devices/resources worldwide would be even better.
