SAP project used WBS to integrate overall order status and navigate as one single entity to display cost distribution. This is the advantage for tracking and auditing point view. Another project module can used old template or already done to utilize or guidance for new business. If the new project has not done before and may need bid purpose for cost planning this none-done before project may need to measure the cost estimates are under or over budget. This step will impact acceptance of project profit/lost and SAP will not resolve this complex process for tool based purpose.
SAP provides WBS for cost center collections from project initiative of cooking to proposal submitted in planning。 Once order has been confirmed, sales order, work order, quality inspection, work order confirmation, to customer AR and purchase order AP are collected for financial statement. For your project based , you may break WBS into many WBS1 planning, WBS2 execution, and WBS3 monitoring for after service。 Each level of WBS can accumulate over all order costs and notification to follow up tasks。 Another option is to use one level of WBS project workspace as well。 Project tracking is a tool。 It is more likely to see what cost center and structure you would like to compose in your balance sheet/P/L statement/Asset statement。 SAP may be a good solution but should consider if fit to your project model maturity。

External interfaces can be easy and painless with Dynamics 365....Please note you will have to brace yourself for some pit falls here and there, but if you have the right people on the implementation, you cannot go wrong.
