The total ranking of a product, represented by the bar length, is based on a weighted aggregate score. The score is calculated as follows: The product with the highest count in each area gets the highest available score. (20 points for Reviews; 16 points for Views, Comparisons, and Followers.) Every other product gets assigned points based on its total in proportion to the #1 product in that area. For example, if a product has 80% of the number of reviews compared to the product with the most reviews then the product's score for reviews would be 20% (weighting factor) * 80% = 16. For Average Rating, the maximum score is 32 points awarded linearly based on our rating scale of 1-10. If a product has fewer than ten reviews, the point contribution for Average Rating is reduced (one-third reduction in points for products with 5-9 reviews; two-thirds reduction for products with fewer than five reviews). Reviews that are more than 24 months old, as well as those written by resellers, are completely excluded from the ranking algorithm.

What do you think of SQL Azure?

Valuable Features There is significant abstraction from beginner to intermediate database administration responsibilities. In this way, I can focus on my business objectives, as opposed to heavy upfront cost of ownership when compared to on-premises or IaaS alternatives. • Improvements to My Organization It provides faster turnaround time to getting solutions customer facing. • Room for Improvement It could have closer parity to on-premises capabilities. Introduce a graph database engine component. • Use of Solution I have been using Azure since its inception. • Stability Issues Historically, SQL Azure has tended to choke at databases larger than 50GB, and in some cases, as small as 20GB. Granted, this starts becoming a function of database design. Caveat: It's...

What do you think of Oracle Database as a Service?

Improvements to My Organization Many databases can be consolidated without any change to the application. • Valuable Features The Oracle Multitenant feature of 12c is awesome. This feature enables us to consolidate disparate databases under one container database and eases manageability of the databases. It also allows us to scale. • Room for Improvement Some bugs could be fixed. There have been some internal software bugs, just like any other newly released software. These bugs gets fixed by patch updates from Oracle on regular basis. • Use of Solution Three to five years. • Stability Issues No stability issues. • Scalability Issues No scalability issues. • Customer Service and Technical Support Excellent. • Initial Setup The planning phase was bit...

What do you think of Amazon RDS?

Pros: Very easy to start with. No need to mess around with OS requirements. All infrastructural issues are handled automatically; backups, patching. Cons: Some features are disabled, like running "alter system/database". There are Amazon alternatives, but it is not transparent to the application. When migrating an existing application, it should be adopted. Also, using these Amazon alternatives produces "cloud-lock", since they exist only in AWS. Some database components are not available. Most remarkable is the absence of RAC.
