The total ranking of a product, represented by the bar length, is based on a weighted aggregate score. The score is calculated as follows: The product with the highest count in each area gets the highest available score. (20 points for Reviews; 16 points for Views, Comparisons, and Followers.) Every other product gets assigned points based on its total in proportion to the #1 product in that area. For example, if a product has 80% of the number of reviews compared to the product with the most reviews then the product's score for reviews would be 20% (weighting factor) * 80% = 16. For Average Rating, the maximum score is 32 points awarded linearly based on our rating scale of 1-10. If a product has fewer than ten reviews, the point contribution for Average Rating is reduced (one-third reduction in points for products with 5-9 reviews; two-thirds reduction for products with fewer than five reviews). Reviews that are more than 24 months old, as well as those written by resellers, are completely excluded from the ranking algorithm.

How has it helped my organization?

We can approach many different solutions without a ton of lift on developers which helps us a great deal. We still need to put time into tuning what is in the defaults, but we can get up and running in short order using EM7.

What do you think of ScienceLogic?

Valuable Features One of the valuable features is rapid dashboards. • Improvements to My Organization Overall, it is a very solid tool for Fault and Performance Monitoring. We use the tool to provide views into their environment. Our engineers use the tool when engaged on a Systems and Network Architecture project to determine baselines and to monitor changes we make. Our NOC also uses the tool to provide monitoring services to our client. • Room for Improvement I would like to see out-of-the-box standard dashboards for common services. • Use of Solution We have used this solution for three years. • Deployment Issues The deployment was smooth. However, we deployed on our internal systems, then expanded to include external and managed systems. • Stability...

What is most valuable?

The Power Packs that are available are amazing. It took me ~10 minutes to fully configure multiple Pure disk arrays. The Cisco UCS power pack was even faster. Literally pointed it at the IP of the UCS and it did all the work.

How has it helped my organization?

Dashboards have been great. Management loves seeing all the little green lights. Steep learning curve but very beneficial.

What needs improvement?

The UI takes a bit to learn but once you get past that it gets the job done. Creating dashboards is also complex but that is because of the sheer number of options.

What is most valuable?

The ability to write custom dynamic applications, and the ability to create custom dashboards to display multiple device graphs in one place.

How has it helped my organization?

We have been using EM7 as our monitoring solution since our product was launched 7 years ago. EM7 has allowed us to respond quickly to service outages, and has been a great help in identifying the cause of these outages.

What needs improvement?

The upgrade process occasionally proves to be exciting. ScienceLogic Support is always able to resolve the exciting issues promptly, but I'd rather seem them not appear in the first place.

How has it helped my organization?

We have been able to utilize categories and grouping for both customers and devices to streamline our processes for both monitoring and management of those devices.

What needs improvement?

Overall monitoring capabilities could be improved. We run into instances where we are not able to configure monitoring for specific things and requires quite a bit of manual labor to accomplish these tasks.

What is most valuable?

Network monitoring in general is very important, having the ability to customize and being able to identify more than just a node is down.

How has it helped my organization?

Web monitoring, service and processes monitoring have saved and prevented more than just one outage. The product works great and I feel what the team is doing and how they are moving is a testimony to their success.

What needs improvement?

Outside of key to the kingdom they are doing a good job with updates and patches for adding new features. Product works great and I feel what the team is doing and how they are moving is a testimony to their success.

What do you think of ScienceLogic?

Primary Use Case This tool is the combination of ITSM and EMS.  • Improvements to My Organization My organization would like to see the following improvements to ScienceLogic: ScienceLogic should provide detailed documents to customer as the current documents are not sufficient.  They should add CLI command modes and scripts for high performance. • Valuable Features Its ITSM and EMS combination is really amazing. There is no need to purchase two products, one for ITSM and a second for EMS/NMS. • Room for Improvement They should include chat support, like Zenoss. The ScienceLogic support team takes too much time. • Use of Solution One to three years. • Stability Issues We did face issues with its older version 8.1.  We have not experience any fatal issues...
