What is most valuable?

Features with the most value are Instant VM Recovery, SQL Explorer and Exchange Explorer. Allowing our Veeam Agents access to the repositories for backups is another big plus.

How has it helped my organization?

With moving the Veeam server to a physical server and creating a Proxy server on each of the hosts we are able to leverage SAN based backup which is very fast. Jobs are completed overnight and never run in to the business hours.

What needs improvement?

Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction, however, with Veeam Endpoint Backup physical server backup is possible.

What do you think of Code42?

Valuable Features We use CrashPlan for PC and Macintosh end-point backup. We filter out certain file types. We throttle both to a percentage of CPU and to network throughput. • Improvements to My Organization We have confidence that any files stored on a PC or a Mac for any length of time will be backed up and available to be restored. • Room for Improvement If you install the home user version of CrashPlan, you will need to uninstall it before you are able to install the pro version. This only matters if you install the wrong version the first time. • Use of Solution I have used it for four or five years. • Deployment Issues We did not encounter any issues with our deployment. • Stability Issues We did not encounter any issues with stability. • Scalability...

What is most valuable?

Backdating: This is Reduxio’s local every second backup technology. It is always-on and monitored 24/7, so it frees up a lot of time that I used to spend babysitting traditional backups. Value: For less money than my previous solution, I... more»

How has it helped my organization?

I never have to think about backups again. A few months after implementing Reduxio, I got a request to restore some data related to a former employee. I panicked when I found out my traditional backups were corrupted. Reduxio to the rescue!... more»

What needs improvement?

I would love an iPhone app to monitor my system from outside the firewall. I am also looking forward to the latest vCenter plugin with more granular reporting and management.

What is most valuable?

Restarting the failed session, where you don’t need to run a whole selection list backup. Newer DP versions even have a resume feature, which should allow you to continue from the point of failure, instead of ruining the whole partition in case of a “restart failed objects“ error.

What needs improvement?

There are lots of bugs around; inability to downgrade version, issues with version upgrades, etc. For example, Data Protector version 8 didn’t have a properly working restore feature; the next upgrade came within week. All kinds of small things required workarounds and support engagement to find some tweak within the config files. When comparing other backup... more»

What is most valuable?

It is very easy to set up and get started. Almost too easy. We racked this device and had it up and running in less than 15 minutes. The racking of the appliance took the longest, as it is heavy.

How has it helped my organization?

VM backup is much faster and more reliable, as I can test my backups with Data Copy Access jobs.

What needs improvement?

We have a huge VMware infrastructure with multiple hosts that use local storage. Backup jobs of VMs seem to target one host at a time, so if there are 10 VMs on that host getting backed up, it hammers that ESXi host until sometimes the jobs... more»
