Good documentation, good visualization of tickets, and relatively stable

Pros and Cons

  • "The documentation is very well done."
  • "JIra is very poor at reporting."

What other advice do I have?

In general, we are on a server configuration and not a cloud solution. That means, each year we have that specific version until we update it. I suppose since we have installed the JIRA Portfolio in January, it's the last version. However, I'm not sure. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten overall. If the solution would work for others depends on the size of their company. If we had to do the implementation again, we should have bought JIRA Portfolio at the same time as JIRA Core. I think we did a mistake by introducing JIRA Portfolio without it. When you buy JIRA Core, you have only three…

Enables us to print tasks for planning so we can also see what's happening in the system and follow the tickets

What is our primary use case?

I am a consultant, and we have some customers with projects who use Jira. We have customers with different Jira installations because there are so many vendors. It is mostly used as a bug tracking system with tickets, issues and tags.

Pros and Cons

  • "The feature that I have found most valuable is that it is a quite powerful user tracking system."
  • "Jira is a little bit old fashioned, it could be more user friendly."

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anyone thinking about Jira is that it would be wise to at least find out the most crucial functions that you need in the product, what features are most important, determine how the project will use Jira, and the most important thing is to have some kind of user training plan because the tool is so complex and flexible that you can use it in many, many different ways. On a scale of one to ten, I would give Jira a nine. I would give it a nine because of course it needs some improvements. For example, the usability and its speed.

We can check everything, know who is the sponsor for it, and make a test plan. Everything is very visible.

What is our primary use case?

We use it for manual and automatic testing along with defect and requirements management. We can check everything, know who is the sponsor for it, and make a test plan. Everything is very visible.

What needs improvement?

ALM uses a waterfall approach. We have some hybrid approaches in the company and need a more agile approach. We have also installed ALM Octane and are trying to see if it fills the approach that we are looking for our company.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable. We have not had any problems.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have a good impression of the scalability. I have been very satisfied.
