Straight-forward - the basic deployment simply requires an adequately sized and certified hardware platform with sufficient storage to hold the software, and database repository, and sufficient CPU to run a web-based application based upon the number of potential monitored targets and users.
OAM is a little different in that there are a number of security-related prerequisites to enable the OAM side to communicate securely with the OCI VMs being monitored. All of the process, though lengthy, is reasonably documented, and typical of Oracle documentation, a little fragmented and jumps around a bit.

The tool's deployment is easy. If you deploy it, Oracle Enterprise Manager becomes a part of your installation process. After completing the server installation, you get control of Oracle Enterprise Manager. This process involves creating your account, password, and operating system password. With these credentials, you gain full command and control over it. The tool's maintenance is easy. Maintenance is critical for Oracle Enterprise Manager, especially considering it provides full server command and control. This is particularly relevant for Linux units, as most users opt for Linux over Windows for security reasons. We have two to three resources handling maintenance. We have around 50-100 servers. If your organization has ten servers, one person is enough to handle it.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. It's not as simple as Microsoft products for example, but it's not difficult.
Oracle products, in general, are not Microsoft products; you will always have some configuration or some tweaking that you will have to do.
I haven't deployed this solution in quite some time. It has always just been there. I would say deployment, is typically part of a larger project. It's just one of the tools that you're going to deploy along the way.
In terms of timing, and how it takes to deploy, would be days, and planning would be on the backend of a larger project. You are preparing databases and applications before you get to the core of what is to be done, then you can start including tools around it, which is normally on the backed.
One person can easily deploy and maintain this solution.

The initial setup of the solution is straightforward. The time of deployment depends on the database and customer. The solution needs a third-party integration that uses the database.
Deployment is the same with the wireless license. You first deployed a server to the cloud and then created a schema for all your data links. The deployment process depends on the system type you will implement.

Initial setup is very straightforward. It is very easy to install and configure. It is also easy to migrate to different platforms. It is easy to fix if it is broken. It's not rocket science. I have seen other products where, once it is broken, it is broken; you have to do it properly from scratch. That's not the case here. With simple fixes, you can be back in business and running.

I rate the setup experience of Oracle Enterprise Manager a four out of five.
View full review »Right now, the only complexity is setting up our environment for High Availability so that we can scale it and have it highly available not just within the same data center but spanning to multiple, different locations. That's the only tricky part because it involves additional products from other companies, like Cisco and F5. So for us, setting up a standalone, vanilla Oracle Enterprise Manager is a very, very small part. It's because we have to set up the large, diverse environment with maximum-availability architecture that it's been a challenge for us.

View full review »The initial setup is not straightforward. It's quite complex, or, rather, not very easy. You really have to concentrate on the tasks. You must first install the database before we can use our SQL server or our SQL database. Now, you must do the record database first. You must install the database before the server. I don't understand why. Then, you have to try to install the Enterprise Cloud Control Manager.
It's important that whoever installs the solution has specific Oracle knowledge, otherwise they will run into problems.
View full review »The setup is quite straightforward, depending on what you want to use. I started with the GO setup or the interactive pack. I also use silent mode, whereby you just run the command, and then you see the information inside those parameters. I preferred the silent mode installation, whereby you have to make sure that you have set your parameters accordingly.
That said, the installation I conducted wasn't difficult for me to install. The only thing that I noticed was that it's a big file. It's quite a big software or application to be deployed, so when you do, you need to deploy it where there are enough resources for you to install everything.
In my case, the deployment took about five hours to complete.

It is very straightforward because of its improved installer. Since version 12c, installing Enterprise Manager has been very simple. The installer handles everything even including configuration issues with your database repository and OS kernel parameters.
It was a very, very complicated product to set up. We initially used it with Oracle Single Sign-On to link Microsoft Active Directory to our E-Business Suite instance. It was difficult to set up, and actually now we've migrated to Oracle Access Manager with Identity Manager, and it's even more complicated.
Oracle Access Manager is a product that Oracle has brought in. They've took over a company which had their own identity management solution. They took it over and re-labelled it, re-branded it to be their product. We had a few enhancements in it, but when they released it is was absolutely full of bugs, and, actually really, really complicated to set up.
Later releases and scripts is what have made it a little bit easier, but I would like Oracle before they put these products out to the market, to invest some time in making them easier to set up.

Typically, it takes about one to five hours to deploy the product. It's not too long.
