Excellent data integration but needs better scheduling and monitoring features

What is our primary use case?

The primary use cases can change according to the company and requirements. We originally began using it as a data preparation tool, where you could do a data migration afterward.

Pros and Cons

  • "As long as you pick the solution that best fits with your requirements, you won't find that performance is a problem. It's good."
  • "The solution has room for improvement in the ETL. They have an ETL, but when it comes to the monitoring portion, Qlik Compose doesn't provide a feature for monitoring."

What other advice do I have?

We are partners with Qlik. Right now, I have not worked on the system in a hands-on capacity. I have an architectural understanding of the solution. Implementing the product is totally dependent upon the business side of an organization. If a company is just mid-scale or smaller in size, Qlik might be perfect. If you have a giant company, then you should aim for bigger products. Qlik Compose only provides for unique capabilities. There are other solutions, like Informatica, which may be better for larger firms with broader needs. I would rate the solution six out of ten.

A complete product with good integrations and excellent flexibility

What is our primary use case?

I primarily use the solution for integration. I consolidate data from several different databases and spreadsheets and merge systems into Amazon Redshift.

Pros and Cons

  • "The solution has a good balance between automated items and the ability for a developer to integrate and extend what he needs. Other competing tools do not offer the same grade of flexibility when you need to go beyond what is provided by the tool. Talend, on the other hand, allows you to expand very easily."
  • "The server-side should be completely revamped."

What other advice do I have?

I am an IT Consultant. I use it currently in my job. I'm providing services to a company in Australia, using Talend. I would advise others to use the Studio. If you have to pay for some license to use the key parallelize component, it's a good idea to do it. However, don't use the TAC. Use the other orchestration services like Control-M or AWS functions such as AWS Lambda. Don't use the TAC. The TAC is really ugly. Overall, I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. I'd rate it higher, however, the TAC is unreliable. It's a big part of the solution, and, while I do really appreciate Talend Studio…

A centralized repository for orchestrating and sharing data but performance can be a little slow

What is our primary use case?

We are simply service providers; I don't think our relationship with Informatica is that strong. We have a financial client that has a very good relationship with Informatica. They were recently using PowerCenter and IDQ, but a couple of years ago, they purchased DIH. Recently they have been doing some POC using Informatica, Enterprise Data Catalog. They have a great relationship with Informatica.

Pros and Cons

  • "Performance and flexibility-wise, they're very user-friendly."
  • "The initial setup was not very straightforward. Not complex, but not very simple either."

What other advice do I have?

Presently, everything is moving to the cloud, and moreover, many people are moving to Snowflake Data Warehouse, as it provides more scalability. I feel the usage of DIH is very limited compared to Snowflake because Snowflake holds and stores highly compressed data and allows you to use different cloud-based tools, including AWS services, DCP, and other services. Snowflake also comes with Matillion, which is a very good ETL tool. The use of DIH is very limited. Anything that we do with DIH, can be done with Snowflake, regardless of the subscription you may have. There are plenty of use cases —…

Easy to set up and integrates well, but it needs support for custom data delimiters

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is integrating data from different ERP systems and loading it into Azure Synapse for reporting. We use Power BI for the reporting side of it. We also have customers who are migrating to Azure Data Factory and we are assisting them with making the transition.

Pros and Cons

  • "It is easy to integrate."
  • "You cannot use a custom data delimiter, which means that you have problems receiving data in certain formats."

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a five out of ten.
