Easily scalable with lots of features and good encryption

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for analytic purposes. It allows us to store data for years and then go back and look up information to learn things like how users function, react, follow trends, etc. It allows us to follow past and recent demands for products as well so that we might be able to find the reasoning behind the action or trend.

Pros and Cons

  • "Microsoft provides both the platform and the data center, so you don't have to look for a cloud vendor. It saves you from having to deal with two vendors for the same task."
  • "The performance needs to improve in future releases."

What other advice do I have?

We're a Microsoft partner. I have experience with the Microsoft Cloud Data Warehouse specifically within the Unix cloud environment. We're using the latest version of the solution. It's important for organizations considering the solution to consider their business requirements and expectations. They need to be clear about what type of cloud solution they are looking for. We help our clients do this and interview them to find out what their needs are so that the best platform can be chosen for them. It may be Azure. It may be Snowflake. It depends on the company's needs. At the end of the day…

Good for reporting, but has poor technical support and lacks many important features

What is our primary use case?

We have end-to-end SAP. Therefore, we have the operations system, which is ECC6, which is the ERP. This is used for day-to-day data consolidating of purchase orders, finances, etc. We have 16 business lines. When the data comes, we need the reports for the management and we need consolidated and aggregated data. For that, we use Business Warehouse. NetWeaver is a platform, however, on top of it, you use different products. Therefore, on top of NetWeaver, we have BW overlayed for aggregated data for its management. It can be displayed as necessary in data visualization tools, like Business… more »

Pros and Cons

  • "In terms of stability, comparatively, the solution is quite stable."
  • "We are very unhappy with technical support. First of all, they send their sales agents or pre-sales agents and most of them who don't know the solution as a properly trained tech would. We have an on-site SAP representative who is supposed to help us with our high priority and production issues, and they're not satisfactory to say the least."

What other advice do I have?

Our solution is strictly on-premises due to our company policy to not place anything on the cloud. Consultants with technical experience are helpful. They need to understand the processes, as well, however, because designing is the key. Designing right from the start is the very important if you want the product to work for you. There are multiple teams within our company. In my team, we are only concerned with BW and BO. With other teams, there are probably many other instances where someone that is using the solution is connected to other data sources and may be providing the data to the…

Impressive performance from massively parallel processing, supports ELT for importing data, and has awesome technical support

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case for Snowflake is in our data warehouse project. We have a private DW and whoever has the credentials can access it. I am a data integration developer and we are using ETL tools to extract the data from different source systems and then load it in the data warehouse.

Pros and Cons

  • "It has great flexibility whenever we are loading data and performs ELT (extract, load, transform) techniques instead of ETL."
  • "They do have a native connector to connect with integration tools for loading data, but it would be much better to have the functionality built-in."

What other advice do I have?

This is an awesome tool, but there is room for improvement in terms of integration. Also, in terms of management, nothing is perfect and everything can be improved. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Low cost, high performance with large scale queries, and integrates well in an enterprise setting

What is our primary use case?

We are resellers and we provide products for our customers. Our clients are using this solution in two ways; one is for a data warehouse, and the second is for analytics in the database.

Pros and Cons

  • "For me, It's performance, scalability, low cost, and it's integrated into enterprise and big data environments."
  • "Some of our small to medium-sized customers would like to see containerization and flexibility from the deployment standpoint."

What other advice do I have?

The customers love them. They absolutely love them. Before implementing this solution, make sure that it is on the list and that you evaluate it. I would rate Vertica a ten out of ten.

Good performance but poor scalability, and the technical support needs improvement

What is our primary use case?

This is part of our Data Warehouse solution and it is set up as a two-node cluster.

Pros and Cons

  • "The performance is okay as long as the volume of queries is not too high."
  • "Ultimately, the product itself has challenges and we are not currently satisfied with the support, either."

What other advice do I have?

Db2 is not a solution that I recommend. We have a lot of experience and we are not satisfied with the product or the support that we received. Because of the way our environment works, serving branches, it becomes a challenge to satisfy the customers or users. I would rate this solution a five out of ten.
