What needs improvement?

As far as improvement, I would like to see additional troubleshooting tools. It would be useful to have different types of reporting so that you can monitor how your emails are flowing and not just have to go to the logs and see them one by… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is on a yearly basis. FortiCare and FortiMail licenses are for the 24/7 support and the email monitoring service. It comes to around 4000 dollars per year. You pay only for those things that you license and there is no additional… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used to work with Sophos Email Filter. I used to work with Websense Email Security Gateway. I used to work with Symantec. I also worked with Microsoft Exchange Edge. I have the experience for all of these and mostly the change had to do… more»

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I recommend this solution to other people. But in addition, I recommend a few additional steps before just accepting a recommendation. First, they should do a POC (proof of concept). Taking the time to do this is one of the main… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We used to have Sophos, we used to have Websense, we used to have Symantec, and we used to have Microsoft Exchange Edge. These are from my personal experience, not from the company I'm working with. But in a way drawing from past experience… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

As far as licensing, we just have to buy the license and then do the renewal which is just like purchasing the first license. There are different choices for… more»

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using Fortinet FortiMail, I was using the Symantec product for anti-spam. It was not the full anti-spam product and it was not very good at what I hoped it would… more»

What other advice do I have?

I recommend this solution to clients and I really love the way that Fortinet thinks about and executes most of their solutions. They maintain a simple graphic user… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did also evaluate other solutions. Probably the strongest competition was FireEye Email Security. We didn't choose it because it's a very new product, and they didn't… more»

What is most valuable?

The filtering of the solution is very good. You can do URL filtering and, while you need a custom URL to filter under other solutions like Symantec, here the solution covers most categories and the database.

What needs improvement?

The management needs improvement. If our power goes down, there's issues booting up the manager. We have to do a backup and restore it. We've fixed a couple of issues on the solution so far. It doesn't work perfectly all the time. Symantec… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for licensing on a yearly basis. I'm not sure what the pricing is.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I worked with DLP on my last project. I've worked with Forcepoint's firewall as well. We've used Symantec in the past, but lately, we've been getting a lot fo customer complaints about them. I've also used Infoblox.

What other advice do I have?

We're Forcepoint partners. We've noticed that many people are leaving Symantec and moving towards Forcepoint. Their service is better and you can get engineers if you have an emergency. With Symantec changing certain policies, a lot of… more»
