QuickBase is unique in the PaaS space as it offers a structured development environment with built-in multi-level security, database, forms, reports and API. It's designed as a no-download, zero-hardware, multi-user PaaS solution best suited to medium and large businesses with granular security requirements (requiring application, departmental, role, and task level security) with geographically-distributed user bases. It is structured enough to provide a rock-solid standardized development & security environment, but flexible enough to provide the developer room to accomplish almost anything imaginable including using external APIs. For us, security is absolutely critical, and QuickBase's security model is uniquely robust. We know because we audit their security.
I believe in 2016 QuickBase will emerge as a leader in the no/low-code space primarily due to four key characteristics. To begin with, QuickBase offers a consolidated development paradigm - database, security, forms, reports, and code base (API) all wrapped up in a single no-hardware platform/UX. The second is robust security. QuickBase offers the most integrated, reliable, and flexible security model (realm, group, app, role, table, form, field) of any PaaS tool I've seen. Third, QuickBase presents a very low adoption barrier. From a citizen developer viewpoint, most anyone with a basic understanding of Excel can create a simple, multi-user, distributed enterprise app in QuickBase in hours. Lastly, QuickBase provides developers and experienced users the ability to create extremely complex, ultra secure, reliable, and scalable (100s of concurrent users) distributed enterprise applications. In addition, the QuickBase API provides quick and easy connectivity to legacy applications (often in only minutes), and allows dead simple microservices integration.

It is low-code. We are able to go in and create apps quickly. It is very helpful for the size of our company. We're a mid-size company, and at this moment, we don't need anything externally. Notifications and Reminders: QuickBase reminds me when a software license or a hardware support contract is near expiration so that I can initiate our company's procurement process in time and not miss a deadline. QuickBase notifies me when a coworker has submitted a vacation request, and reminds me when a coworker is about to go on vacation. These are not available in any stand-alone spreadsheets or databases.

The most useful feature of QuickBase is it's Bulk import feature. While comparing this product with others that we reviewed for implementation, this one feature stood out among others. The ease with which bulk import works especially the copy excel to clipboard feature has given enough flexibility to end users & clients.
Another feature which has very pleasantly come across is the customizations feature where complex algorithms & reports can be built using JQuery & JavaScript yet amalgamates really well with its out of box components.

The reporting feature has to be my favorite. Quickbase provides you many ways to provide relevant reports to keep your team members on task. The mapping field could use a little improvement. There is a 100 record limitation and you can't change the colors of the pins based on different criteria with out going outside QB. You can only have one default report. It would be nice to create a "Drill Down" report to assign to each report so the user sees what you want when they drill down on a specific report.

We have found from using Intuit QuickBase that it allows for very custom, time-consuming business processes to be transformed into a simple "app" or database without any coding. The platform is a perfect alternative to Microsoft Access or Excel. The interface truly ensures adoption by all users (especially non-tech savvy individuals). QuickBase features such as automated emails, workflows/business logic, and custom dashboards with reporting ensure my users always have real-time information. Using QuickBase apps that support hundreds of users and core business processes, many which are custom to the industry or organization, replaces the need for ERP functionality.

No coding is required. This is especially important to me because I do not have any formal training in programming, nor do I have any interest in start to learn it now.
With QuickBase, I don't have to worry about trying to find and fix programming errors. When talking to clients about developing and supporting apps for them, they all seem relieved that their project won't take months to get "programmed".
