By using the Deep Visibility feature, we found some previously unknown persistent threats

What is our primary use case?

Our use cases are for client and server visibility in our enterprise and operational technology environments, as EPP and EDR solutions.

Pros and Cons

  • "The Deep Visibility feature is the most useful part of the EDR platform. It gives us good insights into what is actually happening on the endpoints, e.g., when we have malicious or suspicious activity. We came from a legacy type AV previously, so we didn't have that level of visibility or understanding. For simplifying threat-hunting, it is extremely useful, where traditional techniques in threat hunting are quite laborious. We can put in indicators of compromise and it will sweep the environment for them, then they would give us a breakdown of what assets have been seen and where they have been seen, which is more of a forensics overview."
  • "The role-based access is in dire need of improvement. We actually discussed this on a roadmap call and were informed that it was coming, but then it was delayed. It limits the roles that you can have in the platform, and we require several custom roles. We work with a lot of third-parties whom we rely on for some of our IT services. Part of those are an external SOC function where they are over-provisioned in the solution because there isn't anything relevant for the level of work that they do."

What other advice do I have?

Give SentinelOne a chance. Traditionally, a lot of companies look at the big brand vendors and SentinelOne is making quite a good name for itself. I have actually recommended them to several other companies where I have contacts. Several of those have picked up the solution to have a look at it. You need to know your environment and make sure it is clean and controlled. If it's clean and you have control, then you will have no problems with this product. If your environment isn't hygienic, then you will run into issues. We have had some issues, but that's nothing to do with the product. We…

Responsive and fast support, easy to deploy, well-tuned to ignore false positives

What is our primary use case?

We use this product for endpoint security and threat remediation.

Pros and Cons

  • "We have a small IT Team, and this allows us to get sleep at night, knowing that someone else is taking care of any incidents that occur."
  • "It would be nice if the dashboard had some more information upfront, and looked a little better."

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody who is looking into implementing CrowdStrike is to go ahead and do it. There is nothing to worry about and they deliver as promised. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

This product does not provide what it needs to or what it says it does for proper Endpoint Detection and Response

What is our primary use case?

My job position is Cybersecurity Engineer. We use the solution as an EDR or endpoint detection response. As EDR is, it is not the primary endpoint protection as it can not control the risk. This product is working as behavior monitoring for the end users. These monitoring products are not controlling the endpoint. For controlling the endpoint, you can use EPP (Endpoint Protection) products like Symantec Endpoint Protection, Trend Micro Endpoint Protection, one that was called OfficeScan — now the updated one is called Apex One — or other strong endpoint protection solutions like Sophos… more »

Pros and Cons

  • "The dashboard actually is good and it is simple."
  • "The product has major problems in almost every facet of setup and use including setup, configuration, lack of functionality, lack of stability, false positives, questionable reporting, inability to protect from randsomeware and poor technical support and development."

What other advice do I have?

I have a lot of baggage with this product because of problems I have with the customers, the implementation, the configuration, the settings — it is very, very troublesome. There are various players on the course now. Some solutions may perform better. I have had a bad experience with Malwarebyte in general. There are a lot of issues I have caught. I wrote these issues down to compile them and then I sent the information to Malwarebyte. Over some time, there was no improvement from the research and development or technical support from this vendor. I have only a few words about this product…

Not just another simple virus-scanning product, but it does not handle removable USB drives well

What is our primary use case?

We use Intercept X Advanced along with Sophos EDR (Enhanced Data Detection and Response). We use it for our servers and clients as advanced protection. It is not just a simple virus scanning product. We use it to work with clients and it is installed on five servers. At this time we have only installed it at one customer site. But we plan to continue to expand.

Pros and Cons

  • "It is not just a simple virus scanning product. It handles more advanced needs."
  • "This product does not handle USB drives well."

What other advice do I have?

Advice that I would have for people considering using virus scanning is that I, personally, would not use Sophos Endpoints. That is the simplest edition of the Sophos virus protection product line. I would use Intercept X Advanced as the entry-level product as the other, simpler product, is not robust enough to provide acceptable protection for businesses in my estimation. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate Sophos Intercept X as a seven. First, I never give a ten because every product can be improved. Second, I subtract two points because of my…

Excellent at detecting viruses, very stable and easy to use

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for securing our endpoints.

Pros and Cons

  • "It's excellent at detecting viruses."
  • "The initial setup is complex."

What other advice do I have?

We're a Kaspersky partner. We have clients of different sizes and the solution works well for all of them. It's perfect for any sized company. It's a very good product. Everything is in a very professional environment. It's largely easy to set up. However, we've noticed that the RAM utilization is very high when Kaspersky is running on a computer. This might distract users that don't have too much memory on their machines. On a scale of one to ten, I'd rate it at eight.
