How has it helped my organization?
The solution has improved our organization by being flexible and offering excellent features. This is the highest model. It includes all the features of ADC, which is load balancing, and it includes a web application firewall, application access management plus SSL interdiction, and features a secure web gateway. It includes all the functions in the same license, and it can be split into partitions, and each of these partitions can serve a different purpose.
What is most valuable?
The performance and licensing model are the best features of the solution.
They have a system which can collect all of the performance data, and they show it on a very nice dashboard.
On top of that, It has an open API. It's well documented, so you can integrate it with any other system. They have all of their scripts available publicly.
What needs improvement?
It would be good to have some deeper security measures implemented. The solution should go even deeper on the firewall level.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been dealing with the solution for 1.5 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is telco-grade equipment, so it is very stable.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is excellent. It's 24/7 and you'll have direct access to the engineers. It's not like support where they will ask you to just restart the box and see what happens. They will get the file from you, and they will replicate the configuration, and they will come back very quickly with answers.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment is easy because it has the same common light interface as Cisco, so it's very simple for the networking techs to install and configure it. You don't need a specialized company. You don't need 35 people. You just need a knowledgeable Cisco expert and he will know what to do.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing varies. There is always the license for the device or for the virtual machine, and then there is the support which can be yearly, or every two, three, four, or five years.
When you count all the features that you are getting, and the feature of splitting into multiple virtual devices, it's a very good price model.
What other advice do I have?
We use the on-premises deployment model.
Some companies have longterm relationships with some other vendors. The thing is, they don't often know A10 networks. It's more difficult to sell this solution, because of the experience and knowledge of the brand. It has a similar function to the competition. For a Telco, it's one of the few options. If you are a telco, you should definitely check and validate A10 Thunder CFW.
The solution is very similar to Cisco and has very good technical support.
I would rate this solution nine out of ten.
