What is most valuable?

Many of the features in the SCOM product have been valuable to us as an organization. Basically most of the main features like the alerting, the reporting, the discovery, the automation, the… more»

How has it helped my organization?

SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) has helped improve our organization through reporting capabilities. The reporting is very good. We're an outsourcing company, so we provide services and manage… more»

What needs improvement?

Even though I think there are ways that this product is superior to most other solutions on the market, there are quite a few things that it does not do alone. This is where the product can be… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We actually have not switched to this solution from another as we are evaluating and using several at the same time. We have used SolarWinds and then there's a new product called eSight that we have… more»

What other advice do I have?

As far as meeting our needs for a solution, I give it a nine out of ten. But it is interesting to rate the tool. My rating doesn't really have a context. It is mostly engineers that are using the… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We, as a company, are using four products for monitoring, one of which is SCOM. We use multiple products because we are an outsourcing company and not everyone needs or wants the same thing. The other… more»

What is most valuable?

It is easy to use and intuitive, which is really important. It does what it says on the box by giving you a visual of the state of what is going on at any one time. The… more»

How has it helped my organization?

The historical data provided by the solution is one of the main reasons why we went with PRTG. It gives you that granular view to be able to go back 24 hours, two days, a… more»

What needs improvement?

While the web application side of things is fantastic, the desktop app is the one area where it do with some improvement. From a user's perspective, I would like to be… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is about £4,500 for the first year, then about another 15 to 20 percent annually after that. So, we are looking at about £1000 running costs a year. When you think… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

The previous solution that we had (SolarWinds) was giving us a lot of false positives. We were spending a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on. We had used… more»

What other advice do I have?

Look at what it is you want your organization to be able to do and what it is you need to monitor. Then, concentrate on the key elements first. Don't try and overcloud… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We just considered PRTG when moving away from SolarWinds.

What is most valuable?

I find the speed of notification most valuable with using Statseeker. It's very quick with its notifications and the history is easily accessible. The history of outages, how long something's been… more»

How has it helped my organization?

In terms of network visibility, Statseeker can be very granular. We can tell it exactly where we want it to go and where we want it to check, or it can do an SNMP walk and find out where everything… more»

What needs improvement?

I would like the ability to update the dashboard. I would also like the ability to access via an API. Then I could produce a dashboard that my C level can understand. This is just so they can go and… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's probably $5K a year for the license.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, Statseeker has reduced the complexity of our network monitoring once it's installed. It provides a single pane of glass to go and look at a snapshot if anything's down or having any… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

SolarWinds was on my shortlist. I was almost in with them. I had done some free things using Splunk etc. Once I saw the demonstration in the Cisco lab, I knew this would be the easiest solution for me… more»

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the network-related reporting. This solution generates daily reports for network statistics, such as router uptime and events.

What needs improvement?

The dashboard has some limitations and should be more user-friendly. Other solutions, such as SolarWinds, have much better dashboards. This solution is difficult to use for non-technical users. Having an option to call the help desk, like in other solutions, would be very useful for some problems… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

Prior to this solution, we were using SolarWinds. It is a better product than the offering by ManageEngine, and I prefer it. This product was recommended by our manager so we implemented a POC and found that it can mostly fulfill our requirements. We switched because we are running other… more»

What other advice do I have?

We are using another product from the same vendor that's called Device Control. This product is for working on remote sites, and it is necessary because OpManager cannot fulfill our requirements. In Device Control you have the ability to troubleshoot, remote control, and you have inventory… more»

What is most valuable?

We had a few requirements specifically for our applications and I think they did some development on WhatsUp Gold features for us. The new version has a lot of improved features. The graphical user interface was quite improved from the old… more»

What needs improvement?

I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are some subscription charges that are quite heavy. I need to pay for support every year and these charges can be quite expensive. Aside from the initial cost for the tool, you need to pay additionally for support.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend WhatsUp Gold. I would rate it eight out of ten. Although the features are nice, it is quite expensive. It's not cost-effective.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also considered PRTG and SolarWinds. I do not remember the report, but we came to the conclusion that WhatsUp Gold was the system for our position.
