What is most valuable?

It has many great features, but in most of the companies that I have done consulting for, they rarely use them as it requires an advanced level of knowledge of the tool. Event Configuration: A tool in its simplest form creates business logic... more»

How has it helped my organization?

Reduces the false positives, by creating our own business logic with the Event Configuration. Allows us to have a single console/notification point, with the alarms of all the tools that we use for monitoring.

What needs improvement?

It’s like having a Ferrari, without a professional driver. Most companies don’t use all the good features. The out-of-the-box features are just too poor: (Ping, CPU, Disk and Memory, Process, and File Systems). CA Spectrum is an... more»

What do you think of CA Unified Infrastructure Management?

Making IT Monitoring a Snap with CA Nimsoft Monitor Snap Snap can be used in a wide variety of monitoring situations, such as to track servers, virtual machines, applications, databases, network and storage devices. We tested version 7.1 of Snap on a network where it quickly discovered our Windows, Mac and Linux machines in February 2014. It is free and fully functional to monitor up to 30 devices, with a paid version for larger networks.

Extensible dashboards allow us to create customized service-level dashboards for business owners. .NET monitoring capabilities are crucial for our organization to monitor the availability and performance of our IIS-based .NET applications.... more»

How has it helped my organization?

SCOM provided end-to-end monitoring for all aspects of the infrastructure, including web sites, network devices, databases and applications. Now, c-level management can easily see overall service-level dashboards and SLAs for mission-critical... more»

What needs improvement?

I would like to see true multi-tenancy support. When it comes to service provider type of customers, it's quite difficult to have a complete monitoring view for different tenants. The System Center suite is not designed for true multi-tenancy... more»

What is most valuable?

The feature which I like the most would have to be the GUI. At first, I was put off, as I felt it was too complex or busy. Upon using it to setup devices, I found it was well laid out and has come a long way.

How has it helped my organization?

Before we didn't really have a centrally managed monitoring solution, so adding this product has been a blessing as we are able to actively monitor and react accordingly. Being able to monitor almost any device in one location is extremely... more»

What needs improvement?

I wish it had more options for personalizing the product, such as being able to include your company's logo without editing text files. More templates for specific devices.

Senior Network Capacity Planner at a tech services company with 1,001-5,000 employees

What is most valuable?

It's given us the ability to create various real-time network performance reports and distribute them to any colleague who can access these reports immediately. They can access them any time without needing their own user account to the system.

How has it helped my organization?

* SevOne threshold monitoring alerts help to improve our network monitoring. * Procedures in troubleshooting were built on predefined SevOne reports.

What needs improvement?

Single device-based baseline monitoring works well in SevOne, but sometimes device independent base-lining in redundant network environments. Software upgrades can be tricky is not easy.

ITRS can define rules to alert when certain parameters that you monitor breach a threshold. Rules can be configured to fire recovery actions automatically to clear the alert. However, if the alert persists for an extended period, then it has... more»

How has it helped my organization?

ITRS helps us to identify a lot of production issues proactively. E.g., ITRS alerts for a critical process memory that grows beyond the configured threshold limits. The limits are set to alert before the process crashes. This allows support... more»

What needs improvement?

ITRS has setup XML that holds the entire monitoring configuration. Only the last 10 versions of the setup XML is saved locally on the gateway server. These 10 versions get overwritten quite easily when you are working with a big configuration... more»
