What is most valuable?

Many of the features in the SCOM product have been valuable to us as an organization. Basically most of the main features like the alerting, the reporting, the discovery, the automation, the… more»

How has it helped my organization?

SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) has helped improve our organization through reporting capabilities. The reporting is very good. We're an outsourcing company, so we provide services and manage… more»

What needs improvement?

Even though I think there are ways that this product is superior to most other solutions on the market, there are quite a few things that it does not do alone. This is where the product can be… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We actually have not switched to this solution from another as we are evaluating and using several at the same time. We have used SolarWinds and then there's a new product called eSight that we have… more»

What other advice do I have?

As far as meeting our needs for a solution, I give it a nine out of ten. But it is interesting to rate the tool. My rating doesn't really have a context. It is mostly engineers that are using the… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We, as a company, are using four products for monitoring, one of which is SCOM. We use multiple products because we are an outsourcing company and not everyone needs or wants the same thing. The other… more»

What is most valuable?

It is a central solution in terms of how to actually use it. It has a very easy dashboard. Everything is concise. We are able to create custom sensors. For different parts… more»

How has it helped my organization?

We've managed to cut down on our P1 escalations by around about 70 percent. We have 24/7 monitoring and the notifications are great. The historical data provided by the… more»

What needs improvement?

Sensors are out-of-the-box and provide some good coverage, but we have a lot of custom sensors, as well. With custom sensors, there is a lot of work which needs to be done… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Cost was a factor when selecting this solution, but it just did everything we wanted it to do. The key thing was having it agentless, so we didn't have to maintain the… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We used a product called SolarWinds in the past, and its cost was high. Whereas, PRTG came in at a third of SolarWind's cost. SolarWinds was limited in terms of its… more»

What other advice do I have?

It is a one stop solution for us. It covers all aspects of the business that we need for principal monitoring. Obviously, depending on the organization, it won't work for… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

SolarWinds was something that we re-evaluated. We were also using ManageEngine and Zabbix. I came on board when we were downloading an evaluation of the actual software… more»

What is most valuable?

I find the speed of notification most valuable with using Statseeker. It's very quick with its notifications and the history is easily accessible. The history of outages, how long something's been… more»

How has it helped my organization?

In terms of network visibility, Statseeker can be very granular. We can tell it exactly where we want it to go and where we want it to check, or it can do an SNMP walk and find out where everything… more»

What needs improvement?

I would like the ability to update the dashboard. I would also like the ability to access via an API. Then I could produce a dashboard that my C level can understand. This is just so they can go and… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's probably $5K a year for the license.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, Statseeker has reduced the complexity of our network monitoring once it's installed. It provides a single pane of glass to go and look at a snapshot if anything's down or having any… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

SolarWinds was on my shortlist. I was almost in with them. I had done some free things using Splunk etc. Once I saw the demonstration in the Cisco lab, I knew this would be the easiest solution for me… more»

What is most valuable?

One of the valuable features is rapid dashboards.

How has it helped my organization?

Overall, it is a very solid tool for Fault and Performance Monitoring. We use the tool to provide views into their environment. Our engineers use the tool when engaged on… more»

What needs improvement?

I would like to see out-of-the-box standard dashboards for common services.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Decide what you want to monitor and only monitor those items. Absorb other elements as you grow.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We switched because of cost and the overall level of effort it was taking to keep up with managing the solution. This was not a full time job, but simply a part time job… more»

What other advice do I have?

I am excited to see the new version, Version 8. But the product has continued to grow and whenever I have had issues, ScienceLogic has stepped up as company. I feel very… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We migrated from Nimsoft to ScienceLogic, but I have worked with a large number of Enterprise Monitoring platforms in my career. We considered Nagios, SolarWinds, and… more»
