What do you think of CA PPM?

Hi All, If anyone is looking for a Project and Portfolio Management tool, then I highly recommend CA Clarity PPM. Of all the PPM tools we had tried, Clarity PPM (now called as CA PPM) is the most robust, multi-functional and reliable tool. The different modules in CA PPM include Resource Management, Project Management, Portfolio Management, Timesheet Management, Financial Management and Demand Management. The technical side of this tool asks from Clarity developers skills in the following areas: XML Open Gateway (XOG), GEL scripting and NSQL. The reporting platforms supported which can be integrated to this PPM tool are Jaspersoft and Business Objects. But CA has recently dropped Business Objects support from v14.2 version onwards and has only Jaspersoft now as the reporting...

What is most valuable?

Deep Dive and Transaction Analysis Triage capability. The AppMap feature is very very helpful in visualizing. Also ACC is a huge help with agent maintenance/management (life cycle).

Reduces the false positives, by creating our own business logic with the Event Configuration. Allows us to have a single console/notification point, with the alarms of all the tools that we use for monitoring.

What is most valuable?

Time Entry, Resource Allocation, Interactive Dashboards, Risk Management, Integration with Jaspersoft reports.

How has it helped my organization?

The health report and all metrics of any project including KPIs are now available in a central location under the clarity project or project dashboard, replacing all those excel spreadsheets.

What needs improvement?

The application memory management and responsiveness of this JAVA product can be improved, especially in the peak usage times. A better way to track, analyze and tweak the heap memory would be a great addition to this PPM tool.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the Portal that comes with the tool. That helps make it look much more user-friendly for the users. Also its ease of use - even for developers it's not that complicated. The only thing CA does not have today is a testing engine. So they have got the requirements piece, SDLC lifecycle with Rally (or whatever it is called now), but they do not have an engine to house test scripts to really pull together the testing pieces of it like HPE does. What do you think of CA Endevor Software Change Manager?

Primary Use Case We use it for version control in the mainframe area. It's been great. To be honest, we use GitHub for enterprise for the distributed world, and we use SCM for the mainframe world. So far, I've looked around as well. The most valuable feature for us is the automatic creation of the test cases, based on the models. And the impact analyzer that shows you where your change is impacting your test cases, and the ability to export that to our TFS Instance.

Easy navigation from initial alerts to a full topology and detail on the Network infrastructure and it relationships is the most valuable feature
